🚨🚨Tuesday's Top Tip - Vibrating or visual fire alarms can be a lifesaver for people with hearing loss.

Standard smoke alarms may not provide enough warning, particularly during sleep. Specialist alert systems, such as flashing strobe lights and vibrating bed shakers, can help ensure you are alerted quickly in the event of a fire.

If you have hearing loss, contact Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service to find out whether you are eligible for a free 'Safe and Wellbeing Visit'. They can also provide advice on specialist fire alarm systems for deaf and hard-of-hearing residents.

Your safety matters – make sure your home is equipped with the right alerts for your needs. 🔔⚡🏠

💙 We are proud to support Carers Week 2026 💙

Unpaid carers make a huge difference in the lives of sensory impaired partners, family members, and friends. They provide practical help, emotional support and assistance with communication; frequently act as a bridge to everyday activities that many people take for granted.

But carers need support too! Access to information, training, respite and wellbeing services can help them maintain their own health while continuing their invaluable role.

By supporting unpaid carers, we improve quality of life for both carers and the people they care for.

🟡 June is Cataract Awareness Month 🟡

This month is dedicated to spreading awareness about Cataracts and breaking down common myths.

Cataracts are one of the leading causes of vision loss worldwide, yet many people delay seeking treatment due to fear, confusion, or misinformation. No one should lose vision because of uncertainty or misunderstanding.

👁️ Don’t ignore the signs
👁️ Get your eyes checked regularly
👁️ Ask questions and stay informed

Awareness leads to action - and action can protect your sight.
