What it takes to build a community café…
Paint on hands. Dust in the air.
Sanding, de-nailing, degreasing.
Lifting, shifting, sorting.
People showing up. Again and again.
This is what “community” looks like — not just ideas, but action. Time, care, graft, lots of biscuits yet surprisingly few brew breaks in between!

We’re building something together here, and every bit of effort matters.

Join us for this months Studio Kids run by Ellie Barrett!

Testing out our brand new MakeDo kit, we’ll be experimenting with cardboard using child-safe cardboard saws and screws. Come along and build the cardboard city of your dreams… There will also be a quieter making space involving some drawing and collaging.

Please note: our accessible downstairs toilets are out of action, and there’s no step-free access to our first-floor toilet. We’re very sorry about this, and we’re currently in the process of installing accessible toilets on our ground floor.

Happy New year folks! We hope you all had an amazing festive period and are glad to be settling back into normality with a fresh start in 2026! We’re super excited for this coming year, we’ve got lots in the pipeline starting with our next open house on Sat 31st January!

It’s important to be gentle with yourself after the busyness of December so we’ve got some chill activities for you to help ease you into the year ahead!

Join Illustrator Charlotte Done on a journey through portals of creativity to the making zone as part of our pilot taster workshop series.

We know that being creative is good for our wellbeing, but why?
In this workshop we’ll be contemplating how the creative process occurs and how to best get into the Creative Zone.

We’ll be mulling over how our brains work and what happens in there, when we’re being creative, with some explorative drawings and collages.

You’ll be supplied with everything you need for these fun experiments. We’ll also have a go at making a fun framed portal of your creative muse to inspire you along your way.

So if you’re a regular creative or you’re new to the game and don’t know where to start.....Come along to our community co-working studios and get a taste of the art that happens at Good Things.

You’re welcome to arrive early or stay late to make full use of the studio space during the co-working session, available from 1:30–5:30pm.

Pieces of Nature with Hazel Leech

Join Hazel for a hands-on workshop in our community co-working studios, using natural materials to create celebratory sculptures that welcome in the New Year.

Photos show examples of Hazel’s previous work, created outdoors locally and while travelling and exploring landscapes across the UK. These sculptures are temporary by design — blowing away, weathering, or decomposing naturally over time.

For this workshop, Hazel has collected, gathered and preserved a wide range of natural materials including seedheads, branches and leaves, for you to experiment and create with in the warmth of our studios. You are also warmly invited to bring along your own materials if you wish. Hazel will share a range of methods and techniques to bind, join, weave and sculpt materials into forms but you will also be encouraged to experiuement and discover your own ways.

The creative session runs from 2–4pm, offering time to explore different materials and techniques in a relaxed, supportive environment. Simply ring the doorbell to the right of the entrance to unleash your creativity and make Good Things happen.
