15th November 2026 - Monmouth Repair Cafe.
Back to our usual venue this month after our excursion in October.
The next Monmouth Repair Café session is on Sunday 15th November 2026, 2-4pm in the Rockfield Park Community Centre.
Bring your broken small household items, electrical, clothes and textiles to get fixed. Enjoy a cuppa and chat too.
Repair skills availability should be Domestic Electrical, General, Bikes, PCs, Textiles/Sewing, Tool Sharpening (not scissors) and Wooden Items.
If you plan to bring items you expect to be "challenging" please contact us via this page so we can confirm that skills are available. We have found that vacuum cleaners, pressure washers and TVs are frequently unrepairable (or are too time consuming to repair) - depending on the fault we may have to say we cannot attempt a repair.
Refreshments will be available. Whilst there is no charge for repairs or refreshments donations are encouraged and appreciated, these cover the cost of consumables, hall hire etc.

A tricky issue. The CD was ejecting from the player immediately after insertion. In the time available at the Repair Café, the CD player module could not be dismantled for investigation and, anyway, it was unlikely that the repair team could have undertaken a repair if it proved to be complex. There was a chance that simply lens cleaning could solve the problem so the owner was advised to purchase a lens cleaning CD to try this potential remedy at home.

This Sony double cassette player had ceased to be able to operate tapes. A repairer identified that 4 new drive belts would be needed to restore the player to working order. Owner was advised accordingly.

Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to fix this CD radio at the October Repair Café but it was worth a try.

Two pairs of repairer hands and a selection of wheels (brought by the owner) fixed this portable radiator. Owner was delighted with outcome.
