Last night UK Astronomy enjoyed a little galaxy hunt with our Dwarf3 smart scope to see if we could capture some of these massive wonders.

Most images are around 200 stacked, 15sec at 60 gain to see how it coped in our light polluted MK garden. They have come out pretty well so we can now us them in our sky guides that will be coming out very soon.

With tonight also looking clear we may see what else we can see or capture. Clear skies. See individual pics for associated names of each object.

Last year UK Astronomy visited St Edmund Campion primary school with our planetarium, where we where told that they wanted to start up an astronomy club. So we donated a scope, donated to us from Rother Valley Optics.

Tonight they had their first clear skies! and first ever Astro Club meeting to explore them, Kelley Phelan who set up the club messaged saying,

'We had great fun! Unexpectedly saw 2 ISS passes, the kids couldn't believe it and they're going to Google for more info. We saw Jupiter, Venus, lots of different constellations and so many satellites. One adult even said 'thank you so much, I felt like a kid again'.

They had 5 telescopes out, plus a Seestar too which the club were fascinated with. Showing that with a bit of determination, passion and a clear sky anything is possible. We are soo pleased for you and hope to see many more adventures under the skies.

After a nights stargazing, what better way to enjoy the Sunshine and warm day than to help UK Astronomy’s favourite charity Curly Tails. With our annual event with them coming up in Nov, we volunteered our time to help them get their new barn up and ready for Spring time. Because there are a billion animals around us… 🌍🔭

We were at Swanbourne House School tonight to show the pupils and their families about our solar system and it stayed clear so we could do some stargazing together 🪐🔭

Had an amazing time last night, teaching Loughton scouts and showing them Jupiter before the clouds rolled in. What made it even more special was when the scout leader said, he remembered Ross teaching him 7 years ago when he was a scout himself.

I promised a friend i would try to capture markarian's chain of galaxies in Virgo on the next clear night. That night turned out to be in London’s light pollution with a full Moon to deal with.

165 stacked images with 15sec shutter at 60 gain on dwarf3. Will def try again on a moonless night somewhere darker to see the difference.

Tonights full Ice or Snow Moon….!!!
Great chance to pop out with your eyes or binoculars and see and learn all the Mare. Dark patches on the Moon, some say you can even see a face out of them or a bunny. 🌝

Its looking like a clear night, and Gemini the twins are high in the sky ready to be explored.

With Jupiter sat in-between them there are tons of things to view, even though the full Ice Moon is out and not far away it shouldn't spoil your viewing experience to much.

And if you want to explore a constellation further away from it you can always find more of our guides on our website.

Its a lovely day where we are, and dare we say feels like spring is here… some lovely spots on our Sun today! Lately it has been a bit quiet and bland, taken from my garden by a Dwarf3 smartscope.

Please remember to never look at the sun unless you have the correct filters, protection or designated solar scopes, clear skies.

Just had an awesome meeting with College Lake Nature Reserve about possibly hosting stargazing events at this amazing venue. An old quarry that turned into a nature reserve, they even found mammoth remains when digging it. Looking forward to seeing the skies with you there later in the year.
