Menai Heritage

Menai Heritage We are a community project to celebrate our two world famous bridges across the Menai Strait Our posting on the page began in November 2014.

Menai Heritage is a community project exploring the history of the world-famous bridges spanning the Menai Strait as well as the local area. Our exhibition and collection of artefacts, housed in a restored church hall (the Thomas Telford Centre, across from Waitrose in Menai Bridge), has been fully accredited as a museum. We have also recently restored a Victorian warehouse (Prince's Pier) on the

waterfront, which will be the future permanent home of our museum. The current hall will continue in its additional function as an active centre for community activities and group and school workshops. For previous posts see our old page:

Ahoy from the Menai Strait! 🏴‍☠️

Spencer Bridge Engineering has raised more than £800 for Menai Heritage Museum after taking part in the annual Great Strait Raft Run in Anglesey.

Our six-strong crew, the Menai Museum Pirates, braved the choppy waters to complete the 6km route from Y Felinheli to St George’s Pier Promenade in 1 hour 19 minutes, finishing 9th out of 18 teams.

Having worked in the local area for more than four years on projects to restore and safeguard the historic Menai Suspension Bridge, we’re proud to continue supporting the community and the organisations that celebrate the heritage of the Menai Strait.

A huge well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to all who supported the team.
