It was a fantastic night celebrating the 5th ‘birthday’ of the pub and we had a fantastic turnout of shareholders and the local community who raised a glass to its continued success. Before the buffet was opened, the committee gave a short speech which is attached below.
“On behalf of The Lowther Arms Community Project We would like to thank you all for joining us on the 5th birthday celebration of the first coastal community pub.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank some of the previous tenants for all that they have done to make it successful and ultimately, still trading.
Special thanks to Vicki Hope who brought sparkle and unicorns to the pub, raising our presence in Silloth and beyond including followers on Facebook. Carl and Ben who transformed the pub into what you see today, achieving brilliant reviews on both Trip Advisor and Pitch Up.
We are taking this opportunity to welcome Emma and Tony as our new tenants, they have made the pub their home for both themselves and their sons who support them in their new roles.
We think you will all agree that they have made a brilliant start, and they happily supported us in the reinstating of the benches; it’s lovely to see everyone sat together on them. Finally, thank you to everyone here and to all our shareholders for your continuing support, because after all, a pub is only a building without the community inside it.”
