🐿️ A little piece of history for 1st March Scout Group!

Tonight was a very special evening as we officially invested 16 Squirrels into our Group – our very first Squirrel Drey! 🎉

1st March Scout Group was formed back in 1909, and tonight marks another milestone in our 117-year history. Our Squirrels are the first new section to be introduced to the Group since our Beaver Colony was established in 1983 – 43 years ago!

It's a proud and slightly emotional moment as we welcome our youngest members, aged just 4–6, into the Scouting family.

Our Squirrels made their Promise in front of their families and were welcomed into their new nests – Ash, Elm, Oak and Pine. 🌳

A huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers who have worked so hard to establish our new Drey, and to all the families who have supported us in getting this new section up and running.

From 1909 to 2026, Scouting continues to grow and create opportunities for young people in March.

16 little Squirrels, four nests and the start of so many adventures! 🐿️

🐿️ A big thank you to Specsavers March! 💚

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at Specsavers March for very kindly donating 20 child-sized hi-vis vests to our new Squirrel Drey at 1st March Scout Group.

They’ve already been put to good use! Last night our Squirrels headed out on a scavenger hunt as part of their All About Nature badge, exploring the local area and seeing what they could find along the way. 🌿🍂🐞

Having hi-vis vests that actually fit our youngest members makes a real difference when we’re out and about, helping us keep everyone visible and safe.

Thank you Specsavers March for supporting our Squirrels and helping our newest section get off to such a great start! 🐿️💚
