🎉Celebrating 119 Years of Scouts and 117 Years of 1st March Scout Group⚜️

As Scouts celebrates 119 years of inspiring young people, we're also incredibly proud that 1st March Scout Group has been serving our community for 117 years, having been founded in 1909

For generations, we've helped young people develop confidence, learn new skills, make lifelong friendships and enjoy adventures they'll never forget. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, trustees, supporters, parents and, of course, our amazing young people – past and present.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey over the last 117 years.

Here's to continuing our tradition of adventure, friendship and Skills For Life for many years to come. ⚜️

119 years since the very first experimental Scout camp pitched up on Brownsea Island, Dorset.

We’re so proud of everything our volunteers have done since then to give young people a place to belong. Thank you to you all! 🙌

🏕️ 1st March Scout Troop Annual Camp 2026 🏕️

Wishing all of our Scouts and leaders an amazing week.

We hope you have a fantastic time making new friends, strengthening old friendships, learning new skills, taking on new challenges, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. From campfires and outdoor adventures to teamwork and plenty of laughs, it's set to be a fun-packed week! 🌲🔥⛺

A huge thank you to all of our volunteer leaders who have given up their week and annual leave to make this camp possible.

We hope everyone has a brilliant time and can't wait to hear all about the adventures when you return!

🌊 What a fantastic afternoon at Fenland Aquapark

Today, members of 1st March Scout Group had a brilliant afternoon taking on the inflatables.

It was wonderful to see Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, parents, siblings and leaders all coming together for a fun family activity.

There were plenty of laughs, a few splashes, lots of teamwork and, most importantly, everyone had a fantastic time!

A huge thank you to the Burnt House Grant, whose generous funding enabled us to subsidise the cost of the trip, making it more affordable for our Scouting families.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the afternoon such a success. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!

🐿️ SQUIRRELS ARE COMING TO 1st March Scout Group! 🐿️

Do you have a child aged 4 to 5½ years old who loves fun, adventure and making new friends?
We're excited to be launching a brand-new Squirrel Drey and would love you to join us for our 4-week introductory programme!

📅 Starts Monday 22nd June
⏰ 4:45pm – 5:45pm
📍 Scout Hall, Mill View, March, PE15 8SY

Squirrels is the youngest section of the Scouts family, giving young people the chance to learn new skills, make friends, build confidence and have lots of fun along the way.

⭐ Places are limited, so we ask that children attend all 4 sessions where possible.
👨‍👩‍👧 An adult will need to stay with their child for the duration of each session.

🏕️ What a fantastic Group Camp! 🏕️

Over the May half-term, more than 30 young people from our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers sections enjoyed an amazing weekend camping at Three Fishes.

We were incredibly lucky with the weather, with plenty of sunshine throughout the weekend. Activities included campfire cooking, whittling wooden spoons, backwoods cooking, games, challenges and, of course, a huge water fight on Saturday afternoon to help everyone cool down!

A highlight of the weekend was our traditional campfire on Saturday evening, where parents joined us for an evening of songs, sketches and plenty of laughter. It was wonderful to see so many families there supporting our young people.

We were also delighted to welcome the The Mayor Of March to our campfire. Having started cubs at the age of eight and dedicated nearly 40 years to scouting as a leader and volunteer, it was wonderful to have him join us around the campfire.

A huge thank you goes to all our volunteer leaders who gave up their time to make the camp possible, and to the parents and carers who helped us pack away at the campsite and unload equipment back at the Scout Hall afterwards. Your support is always greatly appreciated.

Weekends like these give young people the opportunity to develop confidence, learn new skills, make friends and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Today we celebrate the 100th birthday of the incredible Sir David Attenborough 🎉🌿

A lifelong champion of nature, curiosity, and adventure, Sir David’s early experiences in Scouting helped inspire his love of the natural world and exploration.

He once said:
“I remember my time as a Wolf Cub very well indeed. We learned a lot of useful things and had a great deal of fun.”

Thank you, Sir David, for inspiring generations to explore, discover, and protect our planet. 💚

What a weekend for scouting! 🌟
On Saturday, our Scouts headed to Ferry Meadows for an action-packed activity and water day — taking on climbing, kayaking, SUP, and bell-boating. Plenty of adventure, teamwork, and smiles all around!

Today we were joined by other groups from across the District to celebrate St George’s Day at the St George's Fayre - March. We kicked things off with promise renewals before proudly joining the parade through town.

A big thank you to Whittlesey Scouts 1st Doddington Scout Group & Thorney Scout Groups for joining us — it was great to celebrate together! 🙌

A big thank you as well to everyone who supported our duck race and to all those who helped out. We had two winners — duck number 252 finally made it to the finish line (with a little help from our canoeists on the water! 🚣‍♂️). Congratulations to J Whitwell & M Miller, who each won £50! 🎉
