Dowsing is a journey of exploration; discover deeper aspects about yourself and Nature. It is so much more than searching for water.

Office Open Tues-Fri 10am-2.30pm. The British Society of Dowsers is a UK charity that aims to support the practice of dowsing through educational courses, talks and meetings and the promotion of the activities of the lively dowsing groups throughout the UK. The society has been in existence since 1933, when it focussed much on water divining and searching for oil, minerals, or even lost people. But over time dowsing interests have extended to more diverse matters such as health and well-being, archaeology and more spiritual interests. This has reflected the increasingly diverse backgrounds of its membership. The society publishes a regular magazine journal, "Dowsing Today" that contains fascinating articles from members. There is an annual conference in the autumn and a Symposium in the Spring, to encourage the meeting of like-minded individuals. Training courses are offered to encourage more people to take up the practice and then to develop their skills further. A register of professional dowsers is also available, who will offer their dowsing services to the public. Although we are a UK based, we have always had members from all over the World, who have added to our diverse mix of members. Zoom Talk with Alanna Moore

Alanna Moore's Bio
A long time dowser and geomancer, Alanna is from Sydney Australia, where she helped to found the New South Wales Dowsing Society in 1984. She specialises in dowsing environmental energies and the spirits of nature in particular. She has taught thousands of students and made hundreds of energising installations called Power Towers, mainly across Australasia.

She has also spent years living in Ireland and England, lands of her ancestors. There she learned the wisdom of the ancient Celts, folklore and traditions of the Otherworlds, and found them to be easily accessible. Author of 12 books that are mostly on dowsing related subjects, Alanna is relocating back to Australia permanently in October 2026. Her website is www.geomantica.com

Launch of Divining the Otherworlds
The result of a lifelong fascination and experience of the Other, Alanna has compiled reports from across her dowsing career, including the observations of other percipients, to bring us a wide spectrum view of the usually invisible universe that co-exists around us.

The back cover describes it thus:
Ancient traditions of a supernatural spirit world are similar globally, especially in their most archaic forms. They talk of the Other, the Dreaming, etc. It’s an other-dimensional, parallel universe that’s all around us, but usually invisible. Folklore warns us to navigate this Fairyland with care and respect.

But how to know it? In our innate sensory potential, we can perceive it directly, if we find a means to lift the veil between the worlds. The ancient art of divining is one such means. You don’t need any particular belief system to sense or work with the Other, ideally just an open and inquisitive mind, the capacity for intense focus, calm and fearlessness, and a kind heart.

Introduction to Dowsing for Health
With Mandy Bennett — Saturday 3rd October 2026

Intermediate Level | One-Day Practical Workshop + Online Follow-Up

Join Mandy Bennett for a practical introduction to using dowsing as a tool for exploring health and well-being.

During this one-day workshop, we’ll explore a variety of dowsing techniques and learn how they can be used to look at different aspects of our overall well-being.

You'll explore four key areas:

Mental — thoughts, focus and mental well-being
Physical — the body and physical well-being
Emotional — feelings, balance and emotional well-being
Energetic — energy, balance and subtle influences

The day will be practical and interactive, giving you the opportunity to practise different techniques in a supportive environment.

The workshop will be followed by an online follow-up session, providing an opportunity to revisit techniques, share experiences, ask questions and build confidence in your dowsing practice.

There will be dowsing products rods and pendulums to purchase if you wish, so please bring cash for these.

In addition to this day, there will be a follow up 1-hour zoom meeting we aim for this to take place one week after the course (Mandy will arrange the date with you on the day of the course).

The course tutor is Mandy Bennett who has been a Professional Dowser for more than 25 years and has kindly agreed to teach this course on behalf of the BSD, by popular demand.

Day of Archaeological Dowsing at Wandlebury Iron Age Hill Fort, Cambs - Saturday 3rd October 2026

Limited to 30 people so don't miss out!

Working on and around the demolished manor house built in 1735, we will dowse the layout of the ground floor rooms and basement, and try to dowse what each room was used for.

We can then search out service pipes leading from and to the house. There are tunnels to be traced and see if you can find the site of the ice house.

Wandlebury is the site of many myths and legends, possible ley(s), and energy lines. Ancient Greek gods Gog and Magog are also in the mix. And there will be a fun 20- point questionnaire.
