Local to Ludlow

Local to Ludlow We promote locally produced food & drink by organising a farmers market every 2nd and 4th Thursday.

The Local to Ludlow campaign promotes food and drink produced within 30 miles of the town. Our aim is to reduce the environmental cost of food production and to support the local food economy.

- Organise Ludlow Local Produce Market in Castle Square on the second and fourth Thursday of every month.
- Promote and support local food and drink producers and shops and businesses that sell or use local

ly sourced materials in their products or meals.
- Teach cookery classes at local schools or community venues using a mobile kitchen trailer.
- Re-connect people with the land through farm visits and re-skilling local communities in growing and cooking their own food.
- Reduce our environmental impact by selling compostable jute shopping bags and cutting down on packaging and food miles.

STALLHOLDER SPOTLIGHT: we continue to get to know some of our amazing producers. Meet Anne Pyatt from Cosy Kitchen - homebaked cakes and savouries.

Hi I'm Anne and I've had a lifelong interest in food and cooking started when I was very young. Cooking from scratch was always instilled into me by my parents who were not afraid to be adventurous in the kitchen. This philosophy has stood me in good stead!

I have a passion for ingredients and flavours and I love feeding people. I am interested in how food is produced and it's impact on the environment. I am a home cook and my type of baking reflects that...I would call it traditionally rustic, with an occasional modern twist!

The bakes I make have evolved since I started Cosy Kitchen in 2017. They echo my food experiences and beliefs; but also the needs of modern food culture, such as bakes for special diets - there is nothing more heartening than having something on the stall that allows someone on a restricted diet to have a treat. And everyone needs a treat!

But above all I hope that everyone enjoys my baking - my aim is to provide consistent, home baked quality food, that makes people feel good.

STALLHOLDER SPOTLIGHT we continue to feature some of the many talents on the LOCAL TO LUDLOW Producers' Market. So let's meet Andy from Andrew King Chocolates

Hi I'm Andy and I've had a passion for chocolate for over 30 years, I was Head Pastry Chef at Gidleigh Park in Devon for over 23 years.

I thrive in my kitchen, hand tempering chocolate until it shines, this gives the chocolates that wonderful crisp snap when you bite into them. I use the best of local ingredients to infuse my ganaches including our honey from our Herefordshire Farm for the Whisky & Honey chocolate.

Andy also won Best Food producer in the Herefordshire Business Awards just last year, how amazing is that!

Listen to his story.....
Augernik Fruit Farm is a family run by Billy & Liz Auger. We are based in Hopton Wafers, South Shropshire at the foot of the Clee Hill.

Our 25 acre (10ha) farm is on a west facing slope making it ideal for fruit growing. We bought our farm in 1989, when it was just 2 empty fields and have planted every tree and bush you see today.

All our produce is grown organically, and we are a member of the Soil Association (No. 31793). As a consequence, we are a haven for wildlife, some of which you may see as you walk around.

Our delicious seasonal produce is sold at our farm shop, Farmer Markets across the West Midlands and at Michelin starred Restaurants.
