Thursday & Friday Hub Update! ☀️🍲

We have so much to be grateful for this week, starting with a massive thank you to Anthony Kelly and Marie Kelly, Mayor and Mayoress of Ealing Borough 2025-26. As their term comes to an end, we want to express our deepest gratitude for graciously choosing Ealing Soup Kitchen as their charity of choice. Your support has meant the world to us! 🔗❤️

Even as the summer sun blazes down, the Hub keeps moving! Here’s a look at what went down this week:

🎵 Thursday: Clients brought amazing energy to our music workshop, eager to learn new instruments. Afterward, they fueled up on delicious oven-baked BBQ chicken & rice and a hearty vegetable stew.

🧑‍🍳 Friday: Chef Andrew and the kitchen team served up a comforting chicken & leek tarragon casserole, vegetarian cannellini beans, and a crowd-pleasing tiramisu for dessert!

🍹 Keeping Cool: A huge shoutout to Elaisha Rocky from EJ Natural Vibes, who is back for her second summer keeping everyone refreshed with slush puppies and natural cool juices!

Between the heat and the busy days, our shower and barber services were in high demand, alongside our breakfast and tea stations. ☕️💇‍♂️

None of this is possible without our incredible volunteers who show up week after week, and the amazing folks at GoodGym Ealing for helping us fill the gaps! 🏃‍♂️💪

We also want to extend our gratitude to The Felix Project, Multibank, and City Harvest London. Thanks to them, we distributed food parcels, brand-new clothes, shoes, and even some fun prizes for our weekly bingo! 🎟️👟

Community is everything. Thank you to everyone who makes this work possible! ✨

Music, good food, and great company - what more could you ask for? 🎶🍲

Our Thursday music workshop at the Crypt has been running for 4 weeks now, and it’s become incredibly popular! Our clients have been crushing it, learning everything from rhythm and percussion to keyboards, guitars, and vocals. The best part? Wrapping up each session with a delicious, freshly cooked meal.

The busy energy carried right into today! Check the board at the Friday Hub for today’s available services, including another amazing cooked meal served up hot.

Our music sessions are growing, and we are looking for donations of hand drums and percussion instruments. If you have any lying around that need a good home, please hit us up!

A slow start turned into a packed house! 🏠✨

Our tables completely filled up, and the food went down an absolute treat. A huge shoutout to our talented kitchen crew: Jacky and John served up some incredible pasta and meatballs 🍝, while Carlo nailed the vegetarian option with a mouth-watering mushroom risotto 🍄. And to top it all off? Viennetta in several delicious flavours! 🍨

We were also thrilled to welcome back Brandon, our amazing barber, who was back in action hooking everyone up with fresh haircuts. ✂️💈

A massive THANK YOU goes out to our incredible volunteers. None of this would be possible without your hard work and dedication! 🫶

First day on the ICOC rota in the books! 📖✨

We couldn’t be prouder of this amazing team. Even with the pressure of a new setup and a hungry crowd, everyone stepped up and crushed it. Seeing everyone head home happy and fed makes it all worth it. 🧡

Wrapping up the Easter weekend with a full heart and a busy kitchen! 🐰✨

This Bank Holiday Monday, we were thrilled to join forces with our friends at Handonheartwwp. It’s a joy to work alongside a charity that shares our values of compassion and dignity for those experiencing homelessness. Their team hosted a brilliant ‘pick and mix’ station, allowing our clients to choose exactly what they needed from a selection of clothes and toiletries.

On the Menu 🍲

We served up a warming feast of:

- Mixed vegetable curry & dahl with rice (massive thanks to Monty’s on Northfields Avenue for the generous donation!).

- Easter bunny treats from Lindt for that perfect festive finish.

Community Spirit in Action 🙌

Our shopping bags were overflowing thanks to:

- City Harvest London for a van full of essentials.

- Suzette for the fresh veggies and bread.

- Margaret for the clothing donations.

- Rebecca, one of our amazing volunteers, who has now raised over £300 for us by selling donated items!

A Small Request 📋

While we love your generosity, we were saddened to find clothes strewn across our entrance this morning. Unfortunately, the bags had been torn and the items were left unusable.

To ensure your kind donations reach those in need, please contact us to arrange a suitable drop-off time rather than leaving items at the door. We want to make sure every gift counts!

Good Friday at the Friday Hub was just as wonderful as always. We had carol singing from Me Time Pop, egg-giving thanks to Christ the Saviour School, and staff from Alstom (Elizabeth Line) and Lindt. And guess what? Every single person who came and needed an egg left with at least one. That's the kind of day it was.

But that's not all. Mayor Anthony Kelly and his lovely family joined us to help serve the delicious meal cooked by Gayle and the Kitchen team. Costco sponsored the salmon, and the Masonic Lodge sponsored the vegetables, potatoes, plus an additional purchase of rice. Together, they made sure we could put a proper, warm meal on every plate: potatoes, green beans, roast peppers, and then cake with cream. Yum!

The day started with our welcome tea station and a light breakfast, especially for those who still have nowhere to sleep and are really gasping by the time they reach us. Then we played bingo, and the brilliant prizes for our lucky winners were made possible by The Felix Multi-Bank.

As always, a huge thank you to every single donor, including North Primary School, who raised over £200 for us, and to our incredible regular volunteers, as well as volunteers from Good Gym and New Testament Church of God. Time and again, you give of yourselves so freely. Because of you, we're able to bring dignity and love to every person who walks through our door.

And it goes without saying, we also want to say a very warm thank you to you, our amazing community. Week after week, you show up for us, and we never forget it. Because without you, truly, we couldn't do any of this.

You are the motivation for us to serve hope and fill hearts, so no one feels forgotten.
