Ealing Soup Kitchen Ealing Soup Kitchen is a registered charity set up to help the vulnerable and homeless in the area. Emma manages Monday night. Johns Church Mattock Lane W13 9LA.

Nine local churches support our faith-based Soup Kitchen, which has been running since 1973. Our Christian faith-based soup kitchen is managed by a board of trustees and is coordinated by Angela Doreen, who works Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to contact Ealing Soup Kitchen coordinator Angela by emailing [email protected].

On Mondays from 6 pm - 8 pm, we operate a takeaway service of hot meals and food parcels and give clothes at The Salvation Army Hall, 6 Leeland Road W13 9HH. Emma can be contacted at [email protected] if it relates explicitly to Monday night; for all other issues, including volunteering, contact the coordinator Angela at [email protected]

We run a drop-in service on a Friday where clients can get free clothes, showers, barbers, hot meals, food parcel foot care, back massage, listening space, conversational English, Pottery, breathing and stretching classes, play some games as well as receive advice and advocacy service also frequent workshop giving talks at The Crypt, St Johns Church Mattock Lane W13 9LA. Friday's Coordinator is Angela Doreen. On weekends, we offer hot meals, a sense of community and belonging in our Soup Kitchen, and, on Sundays, even a church service for those who want it @ St. The weekend Coordinator is Angela Doreen. Friday 🔥

The sun has been absolutely relentless, making it a monumental task in the kitchen! But week after week, our faithful volunteers on Thursdays and Fridays push through to ensure we maintain our usual excellent standards.

Thursday’s meal-freshly prepared and cooked by our chef of the day, Arul, to feed the budding musicians-was a delicious beef and pasta bake in tomato and béchamel sauce. 🍝

Not to be outdone, Friday’s chef, Andrew, and the team pulled out all the stops to match it with freshly made chicken and turkey coronation, served with new potatoes and salad. 🥗 Both meals were fit for royalty, and our clients were showering us with compliments! Our kitchen team certainly didn’t hold back. 👑

While most of our classes (aside from music) were on a well-earned break, there was still plenty to keep everyone entertained. The real star of the hub is clearly our bingo-taking everyone right back to childhood days and the funfair coming to town! Meanwhile, over at the chess tables, you could see the sheer determination and concentration on everyone’s faces. ♟️

Of course, the usual essentials-clothes, showers, food parcels, and shelter from the blazing heat-were all available. We’re proud to keep our doors open while so many others close theirs. ❤️

Many hands really do make light work! 💛 Huge shoutout to our 2 amazing weekend teams who served our clients with so much energy, smiles, and enthusiasm on Saturday and Sunday.

A quick update:

Over the last two weeks, our Thursday Workshop and Friday Hub have been open as normal! As well as getting some respite from the sun, clients were able to enjoy a hot meal, pick up food parcels and clothes, get a haircut, take a shower, and more. Bingo is always a highlight, but chess and draughts definitely have their regular players too! 🎲♟️

We’d love to give a huge shout-out to some amazing people who keep us going:

✨ Ankita, who regularly buys groceries from the supermarket and has them delivered straight to us.

✨ Monica, who keeps us supplied with takeaway containers and cups.

✨ Felix and City Harvest, who supply us with surplus food week after week.

✨ Hillsong, who joined us as a volunteer group for the day.

And of course, a massive thank you to all our regulars who constantly support us by donating clothes and shoes for distribution. Special thanks to Sylvia and Ken (our Thursday collectors), Alex and Gavin (our Friday collectors), and Vinka (who collects whenever and wherever needed for us). We truly couldn't do this without you! 💙

Whatever we can do to make life easier for our clients, our volunteers try to do-right down to fixing someone's glasses so they can see properly again.👓✨

📱 Appeal for Mobile Phones: Many of our clients are still in need of a mobile phone. We have phone cards ready to distribute, but we currently have no phones! If you can help with working phones and chargers, we would love to receive them at the Crypt, St John’s Church, on Fridays between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM.

Huge congratulations to both Greenford Town Football Club Under 12s and Under 16s for winning their respective leagues! 🥇⚽

What makes this victory even more special is the kit they did it in. Every single player took the pitch wearing their Ealing Soup Kitchen t-shirts—an intricate and incredibly proud part of our official GTFC kit.

We don't just play for the badges; we play for our community. 💚

The Results: Two league titles brought home to Greenford Town FC.

The Mission: Supporting our local community off the pitch, and bringing home the silverware on it.

☀️ An increasingly hot few weeks at Leeland Road! We’ve been focusing heavily on keeping our clients hydrated and cool, handing out water and cold flannels to those waiting in the queue.
We are also incredibly grateful to everyone doing the same for people experiencing street homelessness whilst out and about. Extreme heat is a life-threatening risk for those rough sleeping.

💦 We were so fortunate to receive a delivery of clothes and reusable water bottles from Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub just before the heatwave hit!

🎩 Can you help? We would love any sun hats you’re wanting to rehome, please!

🙌 Our dedicated team of volunteers have absolutely surpassed themselves this month, battling the heat whilst giving their time for free. We were also joined by Chris from Menzies for a corporate volunteer day. Because we operate in the early evening rather than the normal working day, Monday volunteers are a rare but welcome occurrence—Chris was a valuable addition to the team!

🎂 In June, our lovely Ismaili supporters, Kay and Ali, celebrated their birthdays by paying for a delicious biryani meal. Our other meals this month were provided by Monty’s Northfields, Pink Catering, and our amazing in-house team. As always, we are indebted to all our donors who selflessly give clothes, shoes, sleeping bags, toiletries, catering supplies, and food.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to gas ventilation issues, we are unfortunately unable to open on Monday 13th July. This situation is entirely out of our control, and we are extremely disappointed to have to shut. We hope to reopen as soon as possible and thank you all for your understanding.

Beat the heat? Absolutely. 🔥 Even with the relentless high temperatures over the last two weeks, the Hub at Mattock Lane kept its doors wide open!

Here’s a look at what our amazing community got up to:

🎶 Music & Melodies
Thursdays and Fridays were filled with rhythm! Our clients have been busy learning musical instruments, practicing their singing, and letting loose with some classic karaoke fun. 🎤✨

🍔 Thursday Comfort Food
After class, everyone settled down for a delicious, comforting meal. This Thursday, Gayle took over the kitchen and whipped up some incredible homemade burgers and chips! 🍟

🌴 Friday Caribbean Vibes
With no regular cook available this Friday, our Lead Chef Angela Doreen stepped up to the helm and took everyone on a culinary trip to the Caribbean! 🍲 On the menu: a fresh pot of stew peas with oxtail and chicken served with rice.

For our vegetarian friends, Arul and Nigel cooked up a fantastic curried veggie mince with stir-fried vegetables. 🍛 Everything was topped off with sweet apple rolls and ice cream! 🍦

🍧 Keeping Cool & Looking Sharp

Friday also featured refreshing Slush Puppies, fresh haircuts from our barber, and our usual bingo and food parcel distributions. 🧊💈🛍️
