We are a food Charity with a welcoming shop in Hanwell supporting vulnerable families across the Borough of Ealing

Members are referred to The Store Cupboard via partner agencies. The idea behind The Store Cupboard was to build on the experience of local community volunteers who provided food during the Covid lockdown to vulnerable people. While The Store Cupboard can’t help everyone, it does aim to provide a breathing space for those who may be struggling, by offering good quality food at a minimal price. Fre

sh produce as well as shelf stable food and toiletries is offered, along with recipe ideas if needed. Members pay £3.50/week and can choose items to the value of approximately £25 during their weekly visit. The idea being that this provides a degree of dignity and choice, and can also help lessen social isolation. Food is sourced from distribution charities such as the Felix project and surplus produce from local Ealing allotments. Any extra items such as toiletries are purchased using the weekly membership fees or donations from supporters. To try to meet in some way the wider needs and issues of our members we will also offer signposting to relevant local community-based organisations and support services. Hopefully post Covid we will be also be able to offer tea & coffee and a chat with our volunteers, and other Store Cupboard members. Longer term we hope that some members will also get the chance to volunteer with us, thus building confidence and employability.
