TODAY from 4pm : an opportunity to visit a thought provoking exhibition by Rouzbeh Kamali; an Iranian-British artist, poet, and journalist, whose writings have been published across Persian-language websites and periodicals.
Face to Face, Strand by Strand presents a series of digital paintings and prints inspired by Iran’s Woman, Life, Freedom movement. Blending references to Iranian miniature with the visual language of street art and political pamphlets, the works bring questions of body, visibility, and resistance into sharp focus. The title, Face to Face, Strand by Strand, echoes a celebrated poem commonly attributed to Táhirih (Qurrat al-‘Ayn), remembered in modern Iranian memory for her public unveiling and her state ex*****on in 1852.

Rouzbeh Kamali lived in Iran until 2017, where he had held several painting exhibitions. He returned to painting in London after some years, first on canvas, and later through digital art and print.

The exhibition is free to attend and the artist will be here at OPEN until 8pm this evening - do pop along

LIFE DRAWING - Saturdays

Join John Murphy-Woolford for an enjoyable two hours developing your life drawing skills on a Saturday morning.

If you want a refresher, or just enjoy a spot of figurative art, you’d be very welcome too. We use a different professional model every week so you get to draw a wide variety of figures. The models strike a series of short and long poses.

If you have no or little experience in life drawing and want to learn how to draw the human figure, these tutored life drawing classes will suit you. We have created a supportive friendly setting where you start to get to grips with

proportions of the human body
how to measure angles
how to use tone and shadow to make your drawing 3D
faces, hands and feet
how to use colour!

For more information or to book go to our website - www.openealing.com
