استمعت المحكمة الجنائية الدولية، يوم أمس 8 سبتمبر/أيلول، إلى آراء الضحايا بشأن سبل جبر الضرر عن الجرائم التي ارتُكبت في دارفور قبل نحو 20 عاماً. فمن بين آلاف الضحايا المتضررين بشكل مباشر، فقدت الغالبية العظمى منهم أراضي أجدادها وتعرضت للنزوح جراء حملة الاضطهاد التي قادها "علي كوشيب"، مما أدى إلى حالة من العوز والفاقة وتفكك النسيج الاجتماعي لمجتمع "الفور". وفي المذكرات التي قدمناها بالتعاون مع منظمة "ريدريس" (REDRESS)، ومجموعة عمل نساء دارفور في أوغندا، وشبكة دارفور لحقوق الإنسان، وجامعة كوينز بلفاست، حرصنا على التأكيد على أهمية دعم حقوقهم في الأراضي، والحد من المخاطر، واعتماد قرائن واقعية لتيسير عملية جبر الضرر.

The Reparations Hearing in the Al-Abd-Rahmen (Ali Kusheyb) case on 8 Sept at the International Criminal Court was a key moment for victims' views to be heard on how to repair the harms suffered after 20 years.

Yesterday, 8th September at the ICC, victims' views were heard on how to provide reparation for crimes committed in Darfur some 20 years ago. Of the thousands of victims directly affected, nearly all lost their ancestral lands and have been displaced as a result of the Ali Kusheyb's campaign of persecution, resulting in destitution and the breakdown of the social fabric of the Fur community. In our submissions, made with REDRESS, Darfur Women Action Group Uganda, Darfur Network for Human Rights, Queen's University Belfast, we were keen to emphasise the importance of supporting their land rights, risk mitigation and factual presumptions to ease the reparation process.

ستعقد الدائرة الابتدائية الأولى للمحكمة الجنائية الدولية جلسة علنية بشأن جبر الضرر في قضية *المدعي العام ضد علي محمد علي عبد الرحمن* (علي كوشيب) يوم الثلاثاء، 8 سبتمبر/أيلول 2026، في الساعة 09:30 (بتوقيت لاهاي والسودان).

خلال الجلسة، ستستمع الدائرة إلى مرافعات ودفوع مقدمة من الممثلين القانونيين المشتركين للمجني عليهم، والادعاء، والصندوق الاستئماني للمجني عليهم، وقلم المحكمة، وهيئة الدفاع، إلى جانب الجهات الصديقة للمحكمة.
لا يتوقع صدور أمر بجبر الأضرار خلال هذه الجلسة. وتهدف الجلسة إلى تمكين الدائرة من الاستماع إلى المرافعات المتعلقة بمسائل جبر الأضرار، قبل أن تبدأ مداولاتها وإصدار أمرها بشأن جبر الأضرار في الوقت المناسب.

يمكن متابعة جلسة الاستماع عبر الموقع الإلكتروني للمحكمة الجنائية الدولية - مع تأخير مدته 30 دقيقة - باللغات العربية والإنجليزية والفرنسية. كما تُبث الجلسة باللغة العربية عبر صفحة المحكمة الرسمية على فيسبوك، وباللغتين العربية والإنجليزية عبر قناتها الرسمية على يوتيوب.

On the 8th September 2026, the ICC’s Trial Chamber I will hold a public hearing on reparations in The Prosecutor v. Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman (“Ali Kushayb”), a landmark case addressing crimes committed in Darfur.

The Chamber will hear submissions from a number of entities including the Prosecution, Defence, Common Legal Representative for Victims, Common Legal Representative for Victims and Trust Fund for Victims, as well as a number of NGOs, universities and experts.

The hearing will start at 09:30 (The Hague & Sudan time), and can be watched live (with a 30 minute delay) using these links:

There are many lessons to be learned from 's experience on transitional justice, which are relevant for South Sudan, which passed 2 laws in 2024 to establish a Truth and Reconciliation Commission and a Compensation and Reparation Authority.

We are holding a memorial for Najlaa this weekend and wanted to share her Fund page. Our colleague and friend Najlaa Ahmed, Legal Adviser at Rights for Peace, passed away on Monday, 3 November 2025. She was a unique human rights lawyer. She dedicated her career to advancing protection for victims of serious human rights violations in Sudan and to pursuing accountability as well as preventing crimes based on discrimination. Use the link to read her story and be part of her legacy.

This campaign will support survivors of conflict-related sexual violence in Sudan, in honour of Najlaa Ahmed's human rights work.

📢 The ICC's jurisdiction must extend beyond Darfur. Our Communication to the ICC Prosecutor argues that the violence in the rest of Sudan is part of the same pattern of conduct of Darfur. The ICC has jurisdiction over crimes being committed across all of Sudan insofar as there is a sufficient link with the crimes in the Security Council referred to the ICC in Resolution 1593 (2005) 🌍 https://wix.to/QnUqnTN

Rights for Peace has been arguing that the International Criminal Court has jurisdiction for the whole of Sudan insofar as there is a sufficient link between crimes to be investigated and those subject in the initial referral by the Security Council to the International Criminal Court in Resolution....
