Stop and Search Legal Project

Stop and Search Legal Project A London-wide collective of lawyers and activists, educating young people about their rights when confronted with police stop and searches.

The stop and search powers exercised by the metropolitan police have disproportionally effected young black and Asian Londoners. Black people are on average eight times more likely to be stopped and searched than their white peers, and 60% of searches happen to under-25s. Recent reports on the riots highlighted the devastating impact of police stop and searches on young Londoners who grow up with

it as part of their daily experience. We set up this project aiming to educate and empower the people of London about the use and misuse of stop and search.
