𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂?

One of the ideas behind Greater BRITS has always been that there isn't just one way to be British and 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧.

I can be an 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧 by ethnicity. A 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧 by profession. A 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧 through service. An 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧 by passion. A 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧 through my professional experience. A 𝗗𝗮𝗱 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧 by responsibility. And a 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗧 by where I live and belong.

Each describes a different part of my story. 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗜 𝗮𝗺.

And that's what Greater BRITS is about.

Whether you were born here, 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝘂𝗽 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘆, we want to hear your story.

Greater BRITS isn't interested in deciding who is “more British” than somebody else. We want to celebrate the many people, backgrounds, communities, professions, passions and experiences that make up Britain today.

A Life Not in Vain - a memoir by Moses Zikusoka

This is my story of identity, fatherhood, grief, faith, and starting again.

From growing up in post-independence Uganda to building a new life in Britain, this memoir reflects on family, loss, resilience, and the lessons that shaped me along the way.

At its heart is one question:

What kind of man must a father become for his sons?

More than anything, this book is about discovering that our greatest legacy isn't just what we achieve. It's what we leave behind in the people we love.

Proud Ghanaian-Brit

Afua Kyei is a British-Ghanaian finance leader serving as Chief Financial Officer at the Bank of England, the first Black executive in its 329-year history.

An Oxford chemistry graduate, she began as a scientist before transitioning to senior roles at EY, UBS, and Barclays.

As co-executive sponsor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, she champions representation at the highest levels.

She is a mother of four and the daughter of Ghanaian immigrants: an NHS midwife and an engineer. - Africa Giant

- Vaughan GETHING, has become the first Black head of government in Wales, in the United Kingdom, and in all of Europe.

-/The 50 year old Zambian-born lawyer, a
lifelong Labour Party member, was elected Wales First Minister (Prime Minister of Wales) by the Welsh Parliament in Cardiff.

Wales, with a population of 3 million is one of the 4 UK countries (England, Scotland and Northern Ireland) that run local services, like health and education, under a devolved government system, with London responsible for defense, foreign affairs etc.

- Gething was born in Zambia to a Zambian mother and white Welsh father. He was raised in Dorset, England, before going to university in Wales. He was previously Welsh health minister for five years, including during COVID-19. Since 2021, he had been Wales' economy minister.

- Gething's election means 3 of the U.K.'s 4 countries, England, Wales and Scotland now have non-white leaders - . England's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is Indian descent, and Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf has Pakistani heritage. The 4th, Northern Ireland, is led by two women - First time no white men are heading government any of the four U.K. countries.

PROUD BLACK-BRIT🇬🇧

- LENNOX LEWIS MBE, CBE, is a former professional boxer from 1989 to 2003.
- He is a three time world heavyweight Champion and the last undisputed Heavyweight champion of the world.
- He is considered the greatest British boxer of all time and one of greatest boxers ever.
- As a dual British-Canadian he represented Canada as an amateur at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, winning gold as Super heavyweight champion in 1988.
- In his first three years as a professional Lewis won British, European and Commonwealth heavyweight titles. He became WBC heavyweight champion in 1992. In 1999 he became undisputed heavyweight champion when he unified his WBC title by defeating Evander Holyfield for his WBA and IBF titles, and the vacant WBO title. He retired from boxing in 2004 after his last fight against Vitali Klitschko.
- Lewis is best remembered for his two fights against Evander Holyfield in 1999 and for defeating Mike Tyson in 2002.
- In his 44 fight career he had 41 wins, 2 losses and a draw, including 32 wins by knockout.
- In retirement he became a football commentator from 2006 to 2010. He also opened the Lennox Lewis Foundation.
