It’s not a wrap yet… it’s just the beginning. 💚

Our Atmiyata East London Champions have completed their training and are now ready to go out into the community with compassion, confidence and care.

We are truly inspired by the commitment they have shown throughout the training, and humbled by their willingness to support people in Green Street who may be experiencing emotional distress.

Atmiyata is all about building compassionate communities, creating safe spaces to listen, and making sure no one feels alone when they are going through difficult times.

A big thank you to all our Champions for stepping forward and being part of this important journey. Together, we are building a kinder, more connected and supportive community.

Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

Feeling truly inspired and humbled by our amazing community volunteers who took part in the Atmiyata training.

Their care, commitment and willingness to support others in Green Street who may be experiencing emotional distress is a beautiful reminder of the power of community.

When local people are equipped with the right tools, compassion and confidence, they can make a real difference in the lives of those around them.

Thank you to everyone who continues to give their time and heart to build a more supportive and connected community.

An incredibly engaging and insightful antenatal session bringing together our community and dedicated maternity professionals 🤍

We were honoured to be joined by Mr Richard Maplethorpe (Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist), Shona Solly (Consultant Midwife), Sr Funmi Awoliyi (Birth Centre Team Leader), Sr Afola Olawoyin (Maternity Booking Centre Team Leader), Funmi Sobamiwa (Patient Experience Midwife), Lisa Brooks (Community Matron), Tiona Allison-Campbell (Antenatal Clinic Team Leader), and Jennifer Nduka (Immunisation Team Leader).

The session covered important and often asked topics including induction (why, how and when), labour, epidural, water breaking, and bed availability — all explained in a clear and supportive way.

What made the session truly special was the open and honest Q&A, where mums and fathers shared their questions, concerns, and experiences, creating a safe and supportive space for learning and connection.

We also heard a powerful presentation on parents’ experiences, grounding the session in real-life journeys from the community.

A special thank you to .rj Jenise Jarvis and Mary from to Yummies for their continued support 🌷

A proud moment celebrating the Citizen Science Showcase and Graduation Ceremony at UCL.

Our citizen scientists from the Newham Community Research Network presented an inspiring range of community-led research, grounded in real experiences and voices from across Newham.

Hearing directly about their journeys and impact highlighted the importance of inclusive, community-driven work and the value of lived experience within research.

Today we had the honour of meeting Rokhsana Fiaz at Newham Town Hall. We had a great conversation discussing our work and sharing insights from all our citizen scientist projects.

It was a valuable opportunity to highlight community voices, reflect on our research journeys, and explore how we can continue creating positive impact together 🌍💙
