Charity Overview:

Green Synergy is a Lincoln based charity, founded in 2012, which uses gardening as a way of helping people come together to socialise, learn and thrive. Our work is focussed in Lincoln’s most disadvantaged communities and with isolated and vulnerable groups. We use social and therapeutic horticulture and grass roots community development methods to deliver projects which reach right into the heart of these communities and help to tackle poverty and health inequalities, raise aspirations and help reinstall pride about the area. All of our projects are developed in response to local needs and developed with and for the communities in which we work. Our aims include: improving access to green space; increasing community cohesion; enhancing physical and mental wellbeing; providing worthwhile volunteering opportunities and stepping stones to employment; teaching people how to grow vegetables fruit and flowers; helping people have access to fresh food affordable food and; aesthetically enhancing local neighbourhoods.

A little bruised, a little forgotten, but still full of goodness.

These quinces spent the last few weeks under the tree providing food and shelter for the micro-ecosystem below. Today they start their next chapter in the compost.

It’s amazing how even the "bad" fruit plays a good part in the garden cycle.

A handsome black cat frequents Hillside Garden for us to admire. This week, he came just in time for Halloween! 🐈‍⬛ With his sleek black coat and curious nature, it brought a little extra magic and spooky charm to our garden. 🎃👻

This week at Better Together, we enjoyed a relaxed mix of seasonal activities in the garden. Participants got involved in some Halloween-themed crafts and creative activities, while also helping with gardening tasks and preparing the garden for the colder months ahead🎃

It was a great opportunity to connect with others, enjoy the autumn atmosphere, and spend time outdoors in a welcoming and supportive environment. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped get the garden winter-ready!

It was a pleasure to attend the Global Doughnut Day last week and to be able to share the work of Green Synergy. Great to reframe discussions on our climate, access to nature and how we can all make a difference locally with small actions

The beautiful this week is Heather Calluna vulgaris - also known as common heather, ling, or simply heather. It is a lovely evergreen shrub with small, narrow, linear leaves and spikes of urn-shaped pink or pale purple, single or double which flowers from mid-summer to autumn.

Looking for an inclusive outdoor activity session? Gather and Grow offers meaningful and engaging experiences for participants with physical and learning disabilities.

Join us at Hillside Garden for nature-based activities, crafts and sensory experiences designed to encourage creativity, build confidence, support wellbeing and bring people together.
