On behalf of UNISON, I am writing to invite your organisation and members to a public rally on the future of Causeway Hospital.
Date: Saturday 24th October 2026
Time: 1pm
Venue: Coleraine Town Hall - outside
Causeway Hospital is more than a building, it is simply put, a lifeline for thousands of people across the Causeway Coast and Glens, Mid and East Antrim, and surrounding areas. Many families have relied on its emergency department, maternity services and specialist care at some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Following the loss of consultant-led maternity services, the trust board approval to removal of emergency general surgery has heightened concerns about the long-term future of the hospital and the impact this could have on patients, staff and our communities. This future of emergency general surgery is with the health minister awaiting his decision.
This meeting is an opportunity for local people, community organisations, patients, health and social care staff, and elected representatives to show that we are saying “enough is enough”
