Roe Valley Nature Kids Wellbeing and fitness through play in nature
Forest School Leader 🌿 β˜€οΈ πŸ’š 😁
From Screen Time to Green Time. Lucinda supports the Nature Kids.

The Nature Kids (up to 12 per group, ages 7 to 11) are looked after by Julie (Leader/Manager, OCN NI Level 3 Award in Leadership in Forest Schools). Julie has a social work and youth work background as well as basic outdoor qualifications, including required First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications. Julie has a number of years experience working with, supervising, planning and delivering sessions

to children and young people. She has Childcare (NVQ Level 3) and experience with children as a behaviour support assistant. Lucinda is also a qualified massage therapist. Emma also supports the group. She is experienced in supporting children and young people in Educational settings. Emma has Childcare (NVQ Level 3) and Tier 2 ASD Awareness for Post-Primary Professionals. We are all passionate about getting children into the outdoors and reconnecting with nature. We want to promote wellbeing and fitness through play in nature and aim to bridge the gap from screen time to green time. Activities can include den building, nature trails, nature art and games. The sessions are held on privately owned woodland only a 5 minute drive from Limavady town (directions will be given when booking a place). Roe Valley Nature Kids is a member of Northern Ireland Forest School Association and has been awarded a small grant from The Honourable Irish Society. We've been running summer sessions since 2019 as well as some sessions on Saturdays and during midterm break. We have also provided After Schools sessions in the past. We currently operate seasonally and close over the winter months.

'Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to inspire and celebrate outdoor play and learning, at home and at school.
Children are spending less time outdoors than ever before and this is affecting their health, wellbeing and development. Time outdoors – on Outdoor Classroom Day and every day – will make children happier and healthier, as well as equipping them with the skills they need for life'.
Your child can enjoy more time outdoors with Roe Valley Nature Kids this July β˜€οΈπŸŒ³πŸ˜ PM to book or for further information!

We love bluebell season! Here's some interesting bluebell stories / facts if you do too!

πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈIn Irish mythology it is believed that you could call on the fairy folk if the flower bells were rung and it was thought that it was unlucky to walk through them as the plants were full of spells πŸ§šπŸ§šβ€β™‚οΈ

❓Do you know the difference between Native, Spanish and Hybrid bluebells?
The Native bluebells have thin, narrow leaves. The flower is deep purple and along one side of the stem nodding downwards. The flower has a lovely scent πŸ‘ƒ
Spanish bluebells have bigger leaves. The flowers are paler and arranged all around the stem and have little or no scent.
Hybrid bluebells are a mix of both.

In a damp woodland clearing, a group of children gather around a fallen log, peering into mossy crevices with the curiosity of naturalists.
