Centurion Explorer Scout Unit

3 members from our Explorer unit met the rest of the wider Jamboree Unit for the first time on Wednesday last week, to start their adventure of a lifetime!

Mystery Cooking Challenge 🥘

This week saw them pick 5 unlabelled tins to then try and create a meal from. 🥫

Was certainly interesting to see the different approaches and them thinking on their feet to create the final outcomes! 💭

We were blown away by the incredible response, enthusiasm, and quality of applications in South Ribble District Scouts for the World Scout Jamboree 2027, you should all be proud of putting yourselves forward 👏

Back at PrestonWall for some Bouldering and Top Rope! 🧗

Everyone got stuck in and had a go at some pretty challenging routes, cheering each other on and striving to reach the top! 🚀

Hunger Games 2026! 🏹

Last weekend we were at Tawd Vale Adventure Centre putting on a Hunger Games themed camp.

The weekend included a training section on the Saturday morning to finish off the survival skills badge! This included:

Making snares 🪤
Building shelters 🪾
Fire lighting 🔥

Then Saturday after the games began! They were split into districts and a game zone marked out. They all started in a centre circle and battled against each other into the evening. Loads of memories were made and they all got stick into the theme! ⚔️

They also cooked over open fire, ate MRE’s and chilled round the campfire in the evenings! 🏕️

Leather Work 💼

Loads of different projects being worked on, from woggles and keyrings to deck of card holders and wrist pouches. Everyone got stuck in and was working on something! 🪡

Pancakes! 🥞

With a challenge to make the tallest stack but also the best decorated, they all approached the prompt very different. A bit of fun with some editable outcomes! 🍓🍌

Moonlight 26! 🌖

Photo dump! Great to see all the Explorers having a great time during the event! Loads of fun had and new experiences made! 🏆

Some came back pretty sore but you can’t stop the combined efforts of our young people!

We even brought home a 3rd place, a massive well done to them all! 🥉
