Being Mortal

Being Mortal BEING MORTAL is a Community Interest Company encouraging us to celebrate life and talk openly about the natural processes of death, dying and grieving.

This can reduce

Great news! Amanda has been accepted onto the 'Trading for Good Community Business Programme'. This provides free, individualised support through seminars, peer mentoring etc. for social enterprises looking to begin to trade. It also provides matched funding up to £4,000 for whoever can secure some trading income. This is a fantastic development and will really help us to develop the skills, strengths and networks we need to make sure that BEING MORTAL brings about the social change we desire. Many thanks to the School for Social Entrepreneurs for offering us this amazing opportunity.

Great fun making these 'Penny Pictures' today at Reynolds Retirement Living. You start by drawing round a penny to make the circle shapes, so you can see how tiny these pictures are. They are made using felt pens - have a go!

Some members of the Garden Court care home art group visited the Letchworth OPEN art exhibition yesterday. We have a collaborative art piece exhibited here - the lovely tree you see behind us. It is called THE CIRCLE OF LIFE. Each member of our art group made one or more leaves to symbolise the movement of nature through Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The leaves were then stuck onto the central tree make to make this great collage. It reminds us that as humans we are part of nature and we too have had our Spring and will reach our Winter.

A great session yesterday with staff from Letchworth Heritage Foundation. We explored our connection with nature and wrote a communal poem, all in the beautiful setting of the wood at Standalone Farm. Many thanks to everyone who joined us.
