Trailblazers is We Are Explorers CIC's over 18 LGBTQ+ social group. 🏳️‍🌈✨

At the group we do a range of activities all chosen by our members. This can be anything from playing games both physically and online, to art activities such as zine and badge making. 🎨🎮

Recently we have played the games Flamecraft, The Game of Death, and Cards Against Humanity. We also have members who bring a range of card games from Pokemon and Digimon to Magic The Gathering. They have enjoyed teaching others these games and playing against them. 🃏

As usual we have a choice of fidget toys and snacks, for in the session, and our members are free to take any of the products that we have donated to us. 🫶

We’re looking for 12 community organisations to join our indoor 5th birthday party on Saturday 28th November at Leigh Library! Stalls are free, and we ask that you run a free, family-friendly activity.

We’re also looking for performers for a free 10-minute slot on our wheelchair-accessible, lower-volume, family-friendly Main Stage!

Everyone is welcome to apply. We’re especially keen to hear from Disabled, Deaf, Neurodivergent and/or LGBTQ+ performers.

The event is open to all ages and completely free, with a family friendly downstairs and 18+ upstairs. There will be food (including 'safe' options), crafts, and live performances on the main stage. 🎤

We're celebrating 5 years of We Are Explorers CIC by funding free and accessible gender-affirming products for everyone in Wigan Borough.

Recently We Are Explorers CIC's LGBTQ+ youth group Explorers have tried out some new crafts such as making worry stones, and decorating gingerbread figures. 🎨

They have also helped to design a mural that we will be painting in the entryway of Leigh Family Hub. They have been really creative and come up with many great ideas that we will be working into our final design.

Like all of our groups, we aim for Explorers to be as accessible as possible, meaning we allow young people who attend to bring whatever comfort or sensory items they may need, and are happy to discuss any other accommodations that we can make. :) 🫶

We Are Explorers CIC is proud to announce our 5 year anniversary! ✨✨

We are holding an event at Leigh Library this November to celebrate both our birthday and Neuroq***r Pride. The event will be open to all ages and run from 2pm - 7pm. 🫶

Downstairs will be completely family friendly, with the sensory friendly main stage, creative activities, games, and crafts. This will be open for the entire duration of the event, with acts on the main stage running from 5pm - 7pm.

As the main stage is sensory friendly there will be no loud noises or flashing lights. There will be a variety of acts from comedy, singing and dancing, to drag, spoken poetry, and infodumps about special interests. 🎤

Upstairs will be for 18+ only, as it will have sexual health information, and more explicitly q***r focused pride content. 🏳️‍🌈

We aim to be as accessible as possible, therefore we have made sure that the venue is completely wheelchair accessible, with accessible toilets, and that there is a reset room that is quiet and sensory friendly. Also, we can provide fidget toys and ear defenders to borrow for the event for free, and there will be a choice of free food including 'safe options'. Additionally, there is free parking for the event at the venue.

Performance slots are 10 minutes long (including set-up) and must be family friendly. The deadlines for applications is Friday 30th October, to apply please send us a 1 minute application video.

We Are Explorers CIC is now an official C-Card distributor! ✨

This is part of the C-Card scheme delivered by Locala Health & Wellbeing . We can now sign young people up to the scheme, and distribute products to them, all for free. The products that we distribute include both internal and external condoms, novelty condoms, l**e, s***m keyrings, and dental dams.

We can also help young people to access other services provided by Locala, for example we can help young people to take a pregnancy test and inform them on their next steps, and we can arrange a sexual health screening to either take place at the young persons house or at Leigh Family Hub.

The service is completely free and confidential for young people from 13-24, and c-card products can be distributed from any official c-card organisations. 🫶

We Are Explorers CIC would like to thank Almia for visiting us and helping the Trailblazers to make their own postcards to celebrate what being LGBTQ+ means to them. 🎨

We had a great time expressing ourselves through arts and crafts, and loved the postcards from other sessions that we got to take home. We also had some great conversations about our experiences being LGBTQ+ and liked being able to leave messages for others on the back of our postcards. 🫶

We Are Explorers CIC is looking for an Accessible Marketing Specialist to join our team!

In this role, you’ll take ownership of our digital flyers, social media, and community messaging, making sure everything we publish is clear, welcoming, and strictly aligned with digital accessibility standards.

The Details:
🕒 Hours: 7 hours per week (Part-time, Fixed-term)
💷 Salary: £25 per hour
📍 Location: Remote
