SAB Action Group - Strutherhill and Birkenshaw

Well done to one of our youngest volunteer Eleanor Khan who was recognised for her community/volunteering charity contributions at her school wider achievement awards.
Eleanor has supported SAB Action Group - Strutherhill and Birkenshaw by helping being the mascots at differents events, supporting the the drama workshops and much more. Plus assist Community Links and Hareleeshill community Hub wearing mascots and fashion shows for their events.
One of her strongest contributions is talking and listening to others in community. She has made a difference to others lives!
Its worth a big 👏 as its lovely to see intergenerational happening with all different age groups getting involved!

10am to 12 pm Money Matters service for financial support and advice. This will be the last opportunity until September.

10 am to 1 pm Arts n Crafts with Bev community painting stones/rocks for Laylas memorial garden and poppys for the Harelesshill Hub project.

11am to 1 pm SAB Mens group

11am to 1 pm SAB Community cafe free lunch

1pm to 2 pm FREE Line Dancing session big hall

1pm to 2 pm FREE language cafe with Sophie learning spanish!

All reserved tickets are ready for collection.
Opportunities of collection is the 17th june and 24th june between 10am to 2 pm at Brew n Blether.
Thursday 18th June 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Both collection point is Chalmers parish church
We still have 23 adult abd 26 children tickets available. Please pm to reserve.

💜💜💜The SAB Action Group - Strutherhill and Birkenshaw was very sadden to hear the passing of one of our young residents in the area Layla age 6 years old on Saturday who fought so bravely over a 4 year period of sickness.

The group are wanting to show their love and support to the family by offering the following 2 actions.

1/ All donations we recieve over our last 2 weeks of Brew n Blether this is on a wednesday at chalmer parish church between 10am to 2pm, will be donated to Laylas fundraising page. If people struggle to use computers and have been wanting to donate this will be a perfect opportunity where you can drop in n place your donation in the collection bucket.

2/ The family are wishing to create a memorial garden for Layla. They have requested the community to paint a rock/stone that they can later place in the garden.
We are opening our Arts n Craft table to the community to pop in during our Brew n Blether times to paint a rock that we will vanish for you and pass on to the organiser of the garden.

Lets show our ongoing love and support to the family during this difficult time. 💜💜💜💜

SAB World Cup Event
Huge shout out to everyone who helped out yesterday, everyone who attended the day, everyone who sponsored and donated to make the day happen! You all made the day fantastic and great fun.......however, the day wouldn't have happened without one lady in particular! HUGE, HUGE shout out to Emma Walker who had the vision of the day, she worked tirelessly for months to pull the event off! EMMA, your a star and SAB are a lucky group to have you lead them ###

The atmosphere was buzzing, full of of smiles and laughter!

This happened due to so many people so here is a massive amount of THANKYOUS! To make this easier i will keep it in our 3 zones! Plus our competition updates.

SAB Action Group - Strutherhill and Birkenshaw working in partnership with Larkhall Thistle Community Fc. This was assisted and helped by Liz Armour our community development worker. Community Links and our very own volunteer Sophie Fisher. We were able to support this event with funding from the 2026 Summer of Sport.

🏰Bouncy Castle Funhouse Inflatables. Sadly we could not have all the inflatables that were booked due to the high winds. This company was great to get something organised so we could still have one in the hall! Also the manning staff Jeanetter Wardlaw, Lynsey Scott and Jodi Hamilton to ensure the kids were safe
🎨🖌Face Painting and Tattoos Sandra Andy Smith Rosemary Lyons-negus Chloe and Abigal. Thank you to Elle Stevely who gave a face painting tuition a few weeks ago.

WORLD CUP FUN DAY!!!

Its late so just a small and sweet message.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to pop in today to celebrate, have fun and support the community! We hope you had as much fun as we did!

A day like this does not happen at a click of a finger its takes months of planning! It comes down to determination, motivation, and community at heart attitude!
