💐 The first flowers are in! 💐

Here we are in April getting the first of our hardy annual flowers in the ground. Some of these were sown as early as February but this year's particularly chilly Spring meant things have been growing slooowly.

The pre-burned membrane and flower plugs make planting a dream - simply dib a hole, pop out a plug and drop it in. Little squeeze and a drop of water, then onto the next!

🌱 In this bed:
Icelandic poppy
Snapdragon
Corncockle
Scabious
Lepidum
Cynoglossum
Calendula

Thanks to our lovely group from Emmanuel House in Chesterfield for all your hard work!

🌱 How does our (flower) garden grow?! 🌱

Micro flower farming requires a very delicate balance of space and time! So, we put lots of thought into clever ways of maximising our harvest while minimising our labour.

Here's a behind the scenes look at a few things we did:
🌿 Permanent membrane pathways that require zero weeding
📏 Perfect spacing by planting through pre-burned holes in membrane
💧 Trickle tape irrigation lines to conserve precious water

Here's Sue pinning down the membrane on one of our annual beds back in April. Stay tuned to see what we planted! 🌷🌷🌷

🌷🪻🌻 Something beautiful is growing at Rhubarb Farm 🌻🪻🌷

We’ve been a bit quiet on here, but that’s because we’ve spent the last four months with our heads down, boots muddy, and hands in the soil turning this 460sqm patch of field into a micro flower farm! 💪

Together, we’ve created beds and paths, barrowed endless compost and sowed hundreds of seeds - all to bring you the best local, seasonal and sustainable blooms.

🌿 What to expect:
We're specialising in romantic, airy, garden-gathered flowers in soft pastel colours, with our very first harvests ready this June and July!

Watch this space for:
💐 Bouquets and bunches
🎟 Creative workshops at the farm
🪣 Flowers by the bucket - perfect for DIY weddings, events, or simply to arrange at home

Best of all? Our flowers are truely grown for good! Every stem you buy directly supports the mental and physical wellbeing of our wonderful growers 🩷💛🩵

Planning a summer event or just love local flowers? Drop a comment below and follow our page to watch the field burst into colour over the next few weeks!
