Red heat-health alert issued by UK Health Security Agency
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a red heat-health alert (HHA) across the Midlands and other parts of the country from Wednesday 24 June until Friday 26 June. This is only the second time a red HHA has been issued, the first was in July 2022.
A red HHA is the highest level of alert and indicates a risk to life for even the healthy population so we’re sending this special edition of our bulletin with advice on how to stay safe.

UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) advice is to:
* Keep out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, between 11am and 3pm.
* Do any physical activity (for example exercise or walking the dog) during times of the day when it is cooler, such as the morning or evening.
* Keep your home cool by closing windows and curtains in rooms that face the sun.
* Cover up with suitable clothing, wear a sun hat and sunglasses, seek shade and apply sunscreen when you go outside.
* Drink plenty of fluids.
* Check on family, friends, and neighbours who may be at higher risk of becoming unwell.
* Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and what to do if you or someone else has them.
Everyone can help us to keep people safe. Here are some suggestions:
* Check on vulnerable friends, neighbours or family members who might be at risk during the hot weather.
* Know the signs & symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke – there’s a poster attached with all of the information you’ll need.

⚽️ Chairman’s Charity Football Match – Game date changed! ⚽️

Due to this Wednesdays hot weather we have postponed the chairmans charity football match to Wednesday the 8th July when it will be cooler

The challenge has been set!

On Wednesday 8th July, the Ashfield District Council Depot Lads will take on the Office Lads and Community Protection Officers in a charity football match at Titchfield Park, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, kicking off at 5pm.

Now, I'm not saying this is going to be the biggest football match Ashfield has ever seen... but it might be the only one where the Chairman is at serious risk of pulling a hamstring while trying to prove he still has it! 😄

As many of you know, football isn't really my sport, I'm more used to getting punched in the face in a boxing ring than chasing a football around a pitch but for two fantastic charities, I'm willing to give it my best shot.

The match is being held in support of my chosen Chairman's charities:

💜 PASIC – supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer.

☀️ John Eastwood Hospice – providing outstanding care and support to people and families facing life-limiting illnesses.

Both charities do incredible work in our communities, and every penny raised will help them continue supporting those who need them most.

So come along, enjoy an afternoon of football, support two amazing causes, and find out once and for all whether the Depot Lads or the Office and CPO team can claim Ashfield bragging rights.

And if you see me gasping for air after ten minutes, please remember I'm a boxer, not a footballer! 😅

📅 Wednesday 8th July 2026
⏰ Kick-off: 5pm
📍 Titchfield Park, Kirkby-in-Ashfield

We'd love to see as many people there as possible. Let's raise plenty of money, have some fun, and show what Ashfield community spirit is all about. ❤️⚽️💙
