CONNECTING WITH THE RECOVERY COMMUNITY

The Ark House team are always grateful to meet others within the recovery community who dedicate so much of their time to helping others.

Henry Beercock turned his life around when he became sober and started AlcoHull Free because there wasn't anything like it for people who are sober but still want fun! He knew more than anyone that sobriety can feel isolating and too many people end up staying in because they don’t know where they’ll feel welcome. He wanted to change that.

He has helped build an alcohol-free community anchored in friendship, rooted in connection and united through belonging.

What started as a simple idea has grown into a movement; people from all walks of life coming together to quiz, walk, eat, dance and share experiences. Whether it’s a daytime meet-up or a night out, our events prove that connection, laughter and good vibes don’t need alcohol.

Henry also hosts Empty Chairs, which has the aim of tackling loneliness, which affects people of all ages. Empty Chairs exists to create low-pressure spaces where real human connection can happen - even if it's just sitting together for a coffee.

Henry will be joining us on Season Two of IN RECOVERY - THE ARK HOUSE PODCAST to speak all about these amazing ventures along with something very exciting that he is launching this summer.

AHF RUN CLUB ⚓️

I just want to say thank you all so much for being a part of the run club as I reflect on the first month.

It’s exactly what I hoped it would be when we started & more.

I wanted it to be no fuss, no pressure to turn up, supportive and most importantly inclusive.

Thank you to all of you who have come along, brought friends and spread the word. This run club isn’t about numbers, this is more about helping people find the love for running/exercise and be able to connect through it and feel welcome regardless of your ability.

GAME SOCIAL 🎯

This will be a laid back social event where games are available on a pay if you play basis (no need to pre book).

They have a great range of AF cocktails and AF beer on draft so they have all options covered.

Come along for the social and if you want to play some games that’s a bonus.

Food will also be served too from their brand new menu if anyone gets a little peckish. 🍔

This won’t be a ticketed event, just turn up…or don’t, whatever works for you.

We look forward to hanging out.

“The best thing I’ve done since moving to Hull”

A runner from this evening said this tonight as we said our goodbyes 🥹

We are so buzzing with how it went tonight, Lauren and I joked and said it may just be the two of us tonight as a few said they couldn’t make it and then this lot showed up and everyone smashed it!

This is becoming the best part of our week and we really mean it.

Thanks so much for coming along and we will see you next week, I may be a little sore from but I’ll be there.

AHF Run Club - Our first run. 🏃🏼‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Buzzing with that turn out. Thank you to everyone who showed up for a lovely steady run/walk along the marina. There were so many people out running tonight, it was lovely to see.

Well done to Ags for smashing her fist ever 5KM 👊

Hopefully see you guys again next Monday. I promise I will work on my warm ups. 😅
