🌟Great news for King's Lynn and West Norfolk! Historic England has awarded a significant grant from its Heritage at Risk Capital Fund to support the further regeneration of the Grade II-listed Sommerfeld & Thomas Warehouse on King’s Lynn riverfront.

Following previous essential works to make the warehouse secure and weatherproof, this grant we've successfully applied for will support further essential repair, conservation and enabling works to protect the building from deterioration and bring it into a safe, useable shell condition, supporting our ongoing work to market the building for use.

This critical funding will allow us to take another positive and proactive step towards bringing it back into valuable and sustainable use for the benefit of our community, helping to boost visitor numbers and hopefully further investment in the building and along the wider riverfront.

Bringing the warehouse back into viable and meaningful use is an important part of the council’s wider vision to maximise the destination potential of King’s Lynn’s historic riverfront for the benefit of resident and visitors alike, while protecting, respecting and preserving its unique heritage.

Not all of Lynn’s history is pretty…

This week, we’re exploring the darker side of King’s Lynn with Darker Lynn.

Behind the town’s grand buildings and prosperous streets are stories of crime, hardship, punishment, scandal and some of the less comfortable chapters in Lynn’s past.

It’s a chance to discover a side of the town that you may not have heard before and perhaps see some familiar streets in a very different light.
