We're back celebrating young people again this evening... And tonight, we're shouting about an amazing attitude to that one thing at the heart of every day: FOOD! It literally is the thing that brings us all together.

We cannot believe how open and enthusiastic to food these campers are. Not just Autumn Camp - but every camp. As a bushcraft company, many presume our food to be crude and basic (or involve hunting it 😂❌). Couldn't be further from the truth - last week alone we enjoyed chicken Caesar subs for lunch with hand-crafted, breaded chicken goujons. We cooked sausage and liver with crunchy dumplings (plus veg), a chicken and chorizo paella, a lasagne, an all-day-cooked beef curry, pineapple upside-down cake, chocolate dough balls, and lemon drizzle cake. And there was so much food too... literally enough to go back for seconds and some!

But it's not just the food - it's the independence these young people showcase. Managing fires, independently taking it upon themselves to wash and tidy, keeping food moving, and taking pride in the end results.

And it's not just the meals themselves - it's the celebration of the time that comes with it. It's the fact that these young people now genuinely look forward to sitting around a table, with music playing in the background, chewing over their day - exchanging stories and memories and laughing until the cheekbones start to relocate. No one seems in a rush to leave those tables - and it is just a brilliantly heart warming thing to be part of.

Does your child have a favourite Inside Out meal? Is there something they are hoping to see in an Inside Out cookbook? Would they like to be part of the team that contributes ideas and helps to bring it together?

When you gamble on a guess and it turns out completely wrong (see the last picture) 🙈🤪🤣

We recently set up our very own murder mystery game, and yes, it looks spookily similar to a certain classic board game 😆

I personally love a critical thinking challenge, and so do many of the team. Even better, we had some young people take part who genuinely kept us on our toes and in hot sweats. Honestly, it felt like a real interrogation!

Activities and challenges like this offer a completely different avenue for our young people to shine, especially those who do not always get to showcase their strengths in physical or standard face-to-face competitions. And boy oh boy, did they rise to the occasion.

We love this addition so much that it now has a permanent home at Inside Out for overnight quiet time and on expeditions!

Autumn Camp 2026

We have so much to share, so much to shout about - and yes, we say that every time.

We have never done a camp like that! It was so different to what we have done in previous years - all because of the genuinely inspiring young people we now work with, who have pushed us to do more, teach more, learn more and expand what we do to encompass new and exciting things.

But as one young person very inspiring quoted when asked for feedback at the end - 'its not just all the challenges and bushcraft; it's the sat talking about anything and everything around a fire into the night!'

Thank you to everyone involved in this week - a genuinely massive and heartfelt thank you to these inspiring young people and an even bigger thank you to the staff team that have genuinely worked so hard to make it all possible for everyone involved.

More to follow 🙏🔥💎

Well, it has been weeks of preparing; months even. And today rounded off the last of it... Tomorrow we start the final full-week bushcraft camp of the year: Autumn Camp. A camp that brings together an entire year of bushcraft skills, adventure elements and challenges, team building, and memories. Not just from this year, but celebrating 12 amazing years of adventures!

It is our biggest ever, and we have put more into this than we have ever done before. Not because we have to or need to (although, we kind of do 🤪) - but because these young people have inspired us to.

To everyone who couldn't make it this week, has joined us this year, or has in some way (big or small) been part of the adventures: thank you, and please do enjoy whatever we get time to share and post.

To those coming: you have had sneaky peaks and tasters, and some subtle and not-so-subtle hints as to what to expect. We cannot wait to see what you all think!

See you at 8:30am!!

Marking 12 years of business, with a decade of history...

We've gone back into the archives and done a deep dive on our Autumn Adventures, all the way from 2016 through until now! A trip down memory lane, a look at just how much things have changed, and of course, some heart-warming memories of faces that have now been and gone, having left huge impressions on us all!

Autumn Camp has always been a huge event for us, celebrating the first ever free events we ran all the way back in 2014 and 2015, the year-on-year events that have seen growth after growth after growth... and that's not just in numbers, but in the bushcraft we teach, the skill sets and experiences we and these young people have, and the adventures that we have all shared.

In less than a week, we'll once again be on Autumn Camp, celebrating another year of adventures and signing off on a year of Bushcraft Camps that have seen record numbers of young people involved.

Crazy to think that some of these faces are now part of our staff team, some are beginning new adventures at university, and some have ventured into work having completed their journey with us!

Sessions have now almost flipped entirely. We've gone from sessions that were light from start to finish, to ones where it is now dark for the majority (we can just squeeze that game into the start).

But it's sessions like these - where we are reminded that bushcraft is not just a summer hobby - and how being prepared is at the heart of what we do.

After a brief (and if we do say so ourselves, rather superb diagram 😂) where we explained how the human body loses heat through conduction, convection, radiation, and evaporation (wonder how many can still explain it without googling?), we looked at the actual physiological response: how vasoconstriction redirects blood flow to protect core organs, and why ignoring the cold leads down the serious path of cold injuries (extra points for key phrases here 😅?). We even dispelled a few common myths along the way.

From there, the Outcrafters took control of the session, moving between various kit-inspired bases to discuss tips, their own experience, why and how things work, or what and why they pack what they pack (just in time for a week of adventures next week, DofE intro's this weekend and another whole winter season of Bushcraft).

Of course, for the final part of the session, the instructors took back over, filling in the gaps, dispelling more myths, and going through best practice.

And while we could summarise all that we shared, what was better was just how much the Outcrafters dived into a session that was purely informational. No hands-on workshops or practicals; no problem-solving challenges - just an opportunity to ask questions and dive into the deeper details. The one thing you cannot fake is a want to learn, and these young people definitely have that.

Did your young people come home with any random facts (hopefully not, 'they told me I need this'!! 🙈 ~ another thing for the Christmas list 🤪)? Did they share their notes with you?

15/10/2026

We’ve never had an autumn quite like this! Dare we say it, we’ve never put this much work into an autumn camp.

In so many posts, we celebrate how these young people raise the bar every single time we see them. They prove time and again that the sky really is the limit, inspiring us to go bigger and better...

This camp has always been a special celebration for us—it marks the anniversary of our very first event, and it falls in autumn (our absolute favourite season! 🍂). Plus, after sell-out after sell-out, we knew we had to live up to the hype!

We cannot wait to share this with you all now... But for those watching: good luck playing the frustrating game of "can you pause quickly enough?" 😅👇
