Margaret is 84. She can't read print anymore — but every Wednesday, a wee memory stick drops through her letterbox, and her local newspaper comes to life.

That's what we do. Free. Every week. Since 1983.

But nothing is free to run — and that's where YOU come in. 👇

We're looking for 3 Volunteer Funding Officers — one each for East, North and South Ayrshire — to help us fill in grant applications that keep this service alive and growing.

✅ No experience needed — if you can write a good letter, you can do this
✅ Work from home, just a few hours a month
✅ Ready-made info pack — all the facts and figures done for you
✅ Full support from a friendly team

One form filled in = local news for people with sight loss all year. Not many volunteer roles pack that much punch per hour.

Criminals should pay, Literally!

Haven't posted for a while.

PAY FOR YOUR CRIME 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Scotland's justice system is broken. Not just here — nationwide. But it's OUR taxes footing the bill, every single time.
From the moment you turn 16, you're handed a National Insurance number. You're on the system. So why isn't the system used to hold you accountable?
If you commit a crime, you pay:
🔴 For being arrested
🔴 For being held in custody
🔴 For your meals inside
🔴 For transport to court
🔴 For every judge, lawyer, fiscal and clerk whose time you took up
Here's what ONE petty crime actually costs Scotland — right now, paid by YOU: the taxpayer.
💷 Arrest & processing: £100-£250
💷 Overnight custody: £150-£400
💷 Prosecution: £300-£800
💷 Court hearing: £200-£600
💷 Legal aid: £150-£500
Total: £1,000-£2,500 — for ONE petty offence.
Add prison time? Add £150 A DAY.
That's not spare change. That's YOUR wages, YOUR council tax, YOUR pocket.
Here's the fix: use the NI number already tied to every offender. Take a fair percentage from wages or benefits — BEFORE it's spent — and put it straight back into the justice system. New prisons. More police. A system that pays for itself instead of bleeding taxpayers dry.
A fair point worth raising: it's well known that low-income areas see higher rates of offending and reoffending. Under this system, everyone pays regardless of income — which is fair in principle, but could risk creating a two-tier system where the poorest end up paying the most relative to what they have. That's a real downside worth debating openly, not ignoring.
Would it still deter crime? Hit someone in the pocket and watch how fast they care.
DON'T DO THE CRIME.
PAY FOR THE DAMAGE.
There's a cost for everything — it's time criminals started paying theirs.
Taxpayers have had enough. COMMON SENSE PREVAILS. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Those prisoners in jail?
Well there is another subject.
