🌍 Our Vision 2030 Climate Pledge
We are proud to take the Vision 2030 Climate Pledge, a nationwide call for festival organisers to step up and act on environmental impacts.

The mission is clear: we are aiming for a 50% reduction in industry emissions by 2030 using a shared blueprint for a resilient, sustainable festival industry, supported by the supply chain and government.
Our industry thrives on the beauty of the outdoors and the vibrancy of our communities. Let’s ensure they stay protected for generations to come.

Today marked the final day of the wonderful residents in the woods, Wyld & Green.

Throughout the week, the collective, who use the animistic language of puppetry to tell stories rooted in the folklore of the land, created a performance for children from Scholar Green Primary School. Following the show, they facilitated a puppet-making workshop using foraged materials gathered from the woodland itself.

Through their work, Wyld & Green explored storytelling as a way to spark dialogue around the climate crisis and to deepen our relationship with the natural world.

Keep your eyes peeled for next weeks residents and the shenanigans they will get up to!

This summer, we’re welcoming some new friends and neighbours into the woods, as part of the Welcome to the Whirligig programme. We’re working with three targeted groups from Cheshire East alongside artists and wellbeing practitioners, deepening nature connection through art and play.

This week Camp Whirligig (our fledgling outdoor community for young people who are not currently (or consistently) accessing more formal education) brought colour and creativity to the woods with artist and facilitator Jo Veal ()

We are hugely grateful to both and for making Welcome to the Whirligig programme possible.

Where can you see hope blossoming?

In the first bloom after winter, looking up at the blossom, seeing buds of spring open. In a “brew?” just when you need it most.
A stranger’s smile on the tram.
In reviving a thirsty houseplant and watching it thrive.
In a funny-shaped veg in your local box.
Hearing the dawn chorus once again.
In small, ordinary moments that stay with you.

A magical day in the sun with this week’s artist residents, Ruthie Ford and Emma McGeehan!

Together in the woods, they created a living cloak and crown, inviting people to step into a space of complete immersion in nature, to feel it, wear it, and reflect on what that connection means to them.

Using only natural materials, the pieces combined floristry and textiles and a chance to experiment, play, and reimagine how we relate to the living world around us.

Whirligig Conversations: A Man Called Adam
We caught up with A Man Called Adam’s Sally Rodgers and Steve Jones to talk about Birdy, an immersive audiovisual work created for the “Remember Nature” campaign.

Blending field recordings, kinetic visuals, and close observation, Birdy explores how birds live alongside us, adapting to human-shaped environments. Performed at Tate Modern and MIMA, the project invites audiences into a shifting soundscape where birds move from background to collaborators.

From suburban gardens to coastal skies, their work opens up a deeper way of listening, one that reveals the layered rhythms of human and non-human life, memory, and time.
