๐ก๏ธ With temperatures soaring this week and heat warnings in place across much of the UK, many people will be looking for ways to cool off in and around water.
While Drowning Prevention Week may have come to an end, the importance of water safety never does.
At Kidsgrove Sports Centre, we believe learning how to stay safe in, on and around water is a life skill that should be practised and remembered all year round.
As inviting as open water may look on a hot day, it's important to respect it. Even strong and confident swimmers can quickly find themselves in difficulty due to cold water shock, hidden hazards, currents, fatigue or panic.
If you fall into water or become tired, remember:
๐ฆ๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ข๐๐ง.
Taking a moment to regain control of your breathing could save your life. Once you're calm, signal for help or swim to safety.
Learning essential water safety skills and building confidence in the water can make all the difference.
That's why our ๐ฆ๐๐ถ๐บ ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ป๐ don't just teach people how to swim, they also help children and adults develop the knowledge and awareness they can carry with them for life.
