President Maire Reeves and Vice President David Langdon recently presented to Hannah Woodford, the IW Ambassador for the amazing Wessex Heartbeat charity £500 towards the cost of funding a Healthy Heart Nurse service for the Isle of Wight.

Wessex Heartbeat runs and maintains an amazing facility, Heartbeat House, which is situated right next to the cardiac unit at Southampton General Hospital. It offers low cost accommodation to the loved ones of patients undergoing heart surgery. This is particularly useful to IW residents, who would otherwise incur significant expense.

Heartbeat House was originally set up by a Rotarian, with all the Rotary clubs in Wessex contributing to the cost. Rotary on the Wight is proud to continue supporting such a worthwhile cause.

Members of Rotary on the Wight will be collecting at Tesco Ryde this weekend. All the money collected will be used to support local good causes and local people in need.. Even if you can't put something in our buckets, please give us a smile as you pass by - it can feel pretty lonely standing there!

Maire Reeves, President of Rotary on the Wight, and member Ian Pratt, met recently with Helen Butler of the Isle of Wight Red Squirrel Trust at Howes Wood, Ryde. They were delighted to hand over a cheque for £200 as a contribution towards the tools and other items needed by the Trust to clear Howes Wood, and to make it more suitable for the Island’s iconic red squirrel population.
