Update for all supporters and volunteers

Unfortunately, one of our riders was involved in an accident this morning on the Dunkeswell - Honiton road. Our fast response protocol was immediately activated, and the rider was supported throughout by our team and emergency services.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to ⁨Parnell Coaches of honiton Sales⁩ for their prompt assistance in providing a vehicle to help collect the bike. The volunteer is currently being assessed at the RD&E Hospital and, hopefully, has only superficial injuries, but we will keep everyone updated.

Love riding? Want to make a difference? 💙

Behind the visor, our volunteers are out on the road every week supporting vital NHS services across the county.

One recent weekend shift saw a volunteer cover 340 miles from Friday 16:00 through to midnight Saturday, completing multiple deliveries including medications collected from RD&E and regular surgery collections, helping keep essential healthcare services moving.

Every mile ridden helps make a real difference to patient care when it matters most.

If you love riding and want to put your skills to good use in your local community, we are always looking for new volunteer riders across the county.

We’d love to hear from you.

A glimpse into what our volunteers do… ❤️

Last week, Devon Freewheelers received an urgent request at 14:00 to collect blood samples from RD&E Hospital for immediate transport to Southmead Hospital, Bristol.

One of our dedicated volunteer riders responded quickly, covering 187 miles to ensure the precious cargo was collected, transported safely, and delivered, with the mission successfully completed by 18:00 hrs.

This is just one example of the vital behind-the-scenes work our volunteers carry out, helping support the NHS and ensuring urgent medical items reach where they’re needed, when they’re needed most.

We’re incredibly proud of the commitment shown by our team, day and night, 365 days a year

WOW… what a day! ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who came along today to support our Open House. For our very first event, we’re incredibly proud of how well it went and it was fantastic to see so much support throughout the day.

A very special thank you to Nigel, Anna and Bret for the idea, planning and hard work that made today possible. This simply would not have happened without you.

Massive thanks as well to all of our amazing volunteers who gave up their time to come along and help. Having so many people there today really showed what a fantastic team we have.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the support and attendance shown today, and for the organisations getting behind what we’re doing. A huge thank you to DAM, RoSPA, BikeSafe and DocBike for their support. It really means a lot to us ❤️

We were also blown away that one of the police riders travelled all the way from Cornwall this morning simply because he was so keen to support what we do. Something we really appreciated.

A fantastic first event and hopefully the first of many.

Thank you everyone ❤️

There's no such thing as a routine day with . Our east volunteer signed on this morning to find 15 jobs on his Saturday schedule. 7 hours and 200 miles later, it's time for a break and get ready for any evening calls.

💙 Carers Week 2026 💙

At Devon Freewheelers, we know the difference that dedicated people can make in supporting others. Just as our volunteers give their time to help communities across the region, unpaid carers provide vital support to family members, friends and loved ones every day.

This Carers Week (8–14 June), we're recognising the invaluable contribution carers make and helping raise awareness of the challenges they can face.

This year's theme is Building Carer Friendly Communities – something we can all play a part in.
