Many thanks to Carter Richard Ltd of Honley who have supplied 6 hoes and around 25 trowels to Friends of Honley to help us in our quest to keep our village looking loved. We really needed these and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for donating them 😊 How wonderful that so many of our businesses donate either time, funding or donations to help.

A picture paints a thousand words they say! Enough said therefore other than thx to the 37 good folk for putting fear in our triffid w**ds, finishing popping 1200 plants in the soil for summer, working in the Community Gdn & clearing our litter. Just hanging baskets to go on Wednesday. Keeping Honley Special ###

SUMMER LOVING this SUNDAY from 10@ our LIBRARY 😁❤️: Our team is out & about keeping Our Honley special by Summer Planting. This week we’re having a summer push & If you’ve an hour or 2 on Sunday, you’d be really welcome. Small, tall or fluffy. All welcome 🙏. Have a peak below & take your pick. We’re a friendly lot 😁 & afterwards we pop to Wired Coffee and Cake for a natter.

GARDENING: The Park beds need w**ding and the circular bed would benefit from a trim. Just pop along with your gloves and any tools you like using if you fancy getting involved.

WEEDS: I love a w**d but it’s now like day of the Triffids down Eastgate & Church St. 😱 We’ve a cracking W**d Team if you fancy it.

Finally VILLAGE TIDY: Having been planting a lot this week, I saw a plethora of litter everywhere 🙃🙃🙃.

In short Honley welcomes a bit of your loving. ❤️

FRIENDS OF HONLEY’S SATURDAY TEAM has been quietly working away on your behalf. What have they been up to?
-Well it’s all about getting ready for Summer which we plan to install wc 1 June. 🤗
- The Flowerbeds & our Well, which greet you as you drive into Honley, at the Southgate/Westgate/Eastgate/Church St junction were w**ded and cleared.
-Planters at Medicare, Valli Opticians & Viribus Beauty and Academy were emptied of winter planting, and are now ready for summer colour 🌺
-And finally they enjoyed a well earned welcome & cuppa at Wired Coffee and Cake

Raising funding for our village community garden 😊

A huge 🙏 thank you to 18 FRIENDS OF HONLEY volunteers who weren’t put off today by the persistent drizzle:
- Litter was collected from far & wide by the tall and small amongst us
- W**ds on Westgate quivered in fear 😁as they were expertly removed
- And summer planters at our Bus Stop and Streets were readied for planting later this month.
- And afterwards? We all dried out over a cuppa at Wired Coffee and Cake, whilst we set the world to rights 😁 xx

FRIENDS OF HONLEY THIS SUNDAY from 10 @ our Library
You’ll each be really welcome, for as long as works for you. Weather looks good and of course afterwards we’ll be having a cuppa and a natter at Wired Coffee and Cake. The plan is as follows:

GARDENING: Tidying some of our tubs so they look good for a little longer before planting wc 1/6. We have a few trowels or just bring your own tools
STREET WEEDING: Just keen to stay on top of the baddies.
LITTER MGT: A good old litter pick so we can stay on top of it so we continue to Keep Honley Special

FoH SUMMER PLANTING: NEED A VAN WITH/WITHOUT A MAN 😁
Week com 1 June, we want to make our village pop with colour. This year we’re having to do things differently as our partner Nursery of the last 10 yrs is closing. £ is tight and we’re up against it as we’re having to find new suppliers BUT we want to “Keep Honley Special”- we want to support this cracking community & it’s amazing small businesses

We needed a bit of help and boy are we grateful for the support of 31 small businesses from Honley Business Association for funding a floral display and 3 specific businesses if I may:

1. James Honley DIY & Pet Supplies Ltd who is replacing all basket brackets to ensure we’re compliant
2. Kevin from Stephenson Trees and Landscapes Limited for the vital weekly watering and feeding
3. Catherine & Matt at our garden ctre at Fitzpatrick Fuels Limited for provision of trolleys and storage of all the kit after its used

We need just ONE MORE THING PLEASE 🙏 - a LUTON VAN at a discounted £ with tailgate for ONE DAY wc 1 JUNE to transport the following:
- 40 hanging baskets
- a load of plants for 45 containers
- 8 bags of compost
Kevin will supply the “man for the van” if it helps.
