✨ Our 1000th patient of 2026 ✨

This tiny young Robin recently arrived with a big appetite and even bigger determination.

After being found alone, with no parents nearby, this little Robin was taken to a vet to be checked over. Thankfully, there were no injuries, and the next step on the journey brought them safely to us.

As you can see from the video, this little one already has plenty to say about feeding time! That strong gaping response is exactly what we like to see in young birds, and our team are providing round-the-clock care to help them grow stronger each day. In time, we hope to introduce them to other Robins of a similar age so they can continue developing natural behaviours together.

Reaching 1,000 wildlife admissions already this year is a huge milestone that reflects just how busy our centre is. Please be patient and kind - our phones are extremely busy, and many of our dedicated team are volunteers. 💚

🐾 Help shape the future of Secret World Wildlife Rescue - Become a Trustee 🌿

We are looking for new Trustees to join our board and help guide the future of our work rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing British wildlife.

We’re particularly keen to hear from people with experience or interest in:
• Education and learning programmes
• Fundraising and income development

You don’t need previous Trustee experience, just a passion for wildlife, fresh ideas, and a willingness to contribute your skills to a growing charity.

What’s involved?
• Board meetings every two months
• Opportunities to join sub-committees or projects
• A supportive and collaborative board environment
• The chance to make a real impact for wildlife and conservation education

We especially welcome applications from younger professionals and those looking to gain governance experience while contributing to a meaningful cause.

If you’re interested, we’d love to meet you. The process begins with an informal tour and meet & greet, followed by a formal interview.

🦡 Squall, a recent badger cub admission. At just 10–12 weeks old, he arrived exhausted, painfully thin, anaemic, and covered in fleas and ticks.

It’s clear he’s had a very difficult start in life. But despite everything, the moment he was offered warmth, comfort, and a safe meal, he tucked in without hesitation.

Squall is in our critical care unit with the badger team, receiving supportive feeds, fluids, and round-the-clock monitoring while we assess exactly what he needs to recover.

Young cubs like Squall are incredibly vulnerable, and every rescue takes time, specialist care, and patience.

If you’d like to help wildlife like Squall get the second chance they deserve, you can support our work by donating, volunteering or simply sharing this story - helping more people understand the challenges wildlife face every day.

We’ll keep you updated on this brave little cub as he continues his recovery. 💚

🚗🐾 Volunteer Response Drivers Needed 🐾🚗

Every year, we rescue over 5,000 injured or orphaned wildlife, and volunteers are a huge part of that success.

Response Drivers are often the first on the scene, collecting and transporting wildlife in distress. Whether it’s driving to help a stranded hedgehog or transporting an orphaned fox to our centre or a local vet, their dedication truly saves lives. 💚

If you’ve got your own vehicle, are over 18 and want to help local wildlife, we’d love to hear from you!

Happy Fox Day 🦊
An update on Bruce and his new friends.

Bruce has continued to go from strength to strength since arriving with us as a tiny orphaned cub. After spending his first few nights in the incubator receiving round-the-clock care, he soon began showing off his very feisty personality — always a good sign that a cub is feeling stronger and more settled.

As Bruce became more confident, it was time to begin introducing him to other cubs in our care, including Rosie, another young orphan who arrived after being found alone and abandoned. Thankfully, Rosie was uninjured and settled in quickly after some initial supportive care. She soon proved to be a typical sleepy fox cub who loves curling up for naps between feeds.

The group introductions have gone really well, and it’s been lovely to watch them interacting, exploring their enclosure, and piling up together to sleep — just as they would naturally in the wild.

The group, nicknamed the ‘A Bug’s Life’ group, later moved into a larger enclosure and were introduced to another cub, who they welcomed straight away.

Introductions like these always need to be monitored carefully, but this group has shown a calm temperament towards one another and are already benefiting from the company and social interaction.

Thank you to everyone who supports the care of cubs like Bruce and Rosie. Every feed, treatment, and enclosure setup helps give them the best possible chance before they can one day return to the wild.

After travelling thousands of miles on migration, this beautiful swift simply ran out of steam and ended up grounded. 🪶

The first swift of the season arrived with us tired, but thankfully in good overall condition. After some time to rest and recover, our team was able to release them back into the sky later the very same day. 💚

At this busy time of year, our Reception Team, including our dedicated volunteers, are working incredibly hard to answer calls and respond to enquiries about injured or orphaned wildlife. Please treat them with kindness and patience; they’re doing an amazing job under pressure.

If you’d like to support more rescues like this, you can donate, share our posts, or learn more about the wildlife we care for every day by visiting our website.

🌿 Last year, our education team visited 3rd Nailsea Rainbows to deliver a hands-on wildlife rescue session, helping young people learn more about British wildlife and how animals are rescued and cared for.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“George visited 3rd Nailsea Rainbows and did a fantastic session about using rescue equipment. Everyone really enjoyed it and got stuck in rescuing the toy animals. Really recommend this session for groups wanting to know about what Secret World Wildlife Rescue do and how they do it.”

Sessions like these are only possible because our education team travels across the region bringing wildlife education directly into communities. But our current vehicle is no longer fit for purpose, and we urgently need your help to replace it.

We’re raising funds for a new electric education van so we can continue inspiring future wildlife champions while keeping rescue vehicles available for animals in need.
