Second emergency watering thanks to volunteers Luke, Nike, Brian and Dave. 👏👏👏. First needed to widen the bridge so our improvised water bowser (thanks to Ed at Grange Farm👍) could get to the fields. ⛏️🪏🪵

🦋Big Butterfly Count🦋. Did a count this morning in the ☀️😎. Lots of Meadow browns, large whites and common blues. A painted lady and a jersey tiger. Take 15 mins and follow instructions on website or the app

You could count in your garden or on Widmer Fields. I found the thistle was full of them. If only they’d stay still to photograph📷. Took dozens of shots with only my phone to get these ones, but some good close ups eventually. Lots of bumble and honey bees too🐝👍

What a difference a day makes. Rowan tree before and after. Our emergency watering was just in the nick of time. 😎👍. Don’t forget to water your delicate plants to keep them going. A little bit goes a long way.

Emergency watering of the saplings due to ongoing heatwave. Decanted water from our roof collected storage and transported around the fields by barrels on the back of the 🚜. Last step with watering cans. Thanks to volunteers Dave, Sally & Robert. 👏👏👏

Fund raising on the fields this morning. £300 collected from the Sunday morning 🐕 walking community to go towards our car park purchase. Thanks to Sharon, Andrea & Jo 👏👏👏, with help from lots of friendly doggies 🐕‍🦺🦮🐕🐩

From RHS Wisley to Widmer Fields. Jennifer and John have grown this Rowan from a twig received at Wisley over 10 years ago. Volunteer Dave planted into the ash field to give it a new lease of life🌳. This will help replace the ash die back trees. Maybe we can rename it the Mountain Ash field🥳

Dave Wainman presents G*T with a £1000 cheque to continue the works on Widmer Fields. It’s was Dave’s tireless campaigning from early 70s through public enquiry and to the high court that secured the fields for our community. We all owe him a big thanks👏👏👏👍

3rd Hazlemere Brownies planted two 🍎trees (aka Bob and Jeffery) in the orchard area and seeded some wild flowers🌼🪻🌺 on the fields last night. Big thanks to the🦉🦉 for arranging and support of the Grange Area Trust volunteers 👏👏👏

Had a visit from the tree 🪓 surgeon to make safe dead🪾 Ash tree as over the 🐾footpath & 🐑🐑 field. Was too big a job for the Grange Area Trust volunteers to handle.
