This September, we're joining hospices across England, Scotland and Wales for This is Hospice Care.

And there's an important reason we're taking part.

Hospice care isn't always what people imagine it to be. Its impact can be felt in so many different parts of life — in the reassurance of knowing someone is there, the confidence to care for someone you love, the possibility of staying at home, and the space for families to simply be together.

At Tynedale Hospice at Home, we see that every day. We see how the right care and support can change the experience of serious illness, not only for the person who is ill, but for the people around them too.

That's why we're joining hospices across the country to help more people see and understand what hospice care can really mean.

Sometimes support starts with a horse 🐎

Last week, Tynedale Hospice at Home and Sinderhope Pony Trekking Centre brought bereaved children and young people together to connect, have some fun and try something new.

Spending time in this environment helped the children to build confidence, express their feelings in a different way, feel less alone and experience a real sense of achievement.

From gentle grooming to taking the reins, there were smiles, moments of courage and plenty of pride. ♥️

It gave the children a chance to step away from their grief for a while, make some connections (old and new) and simply be themselves.

Spending time with these beautiful animals helped the children and young people feel calmer and more confident.

A quote from a parent whose child attended said "My daughter thoroughly enjoyed going to Sinderhope Pony Trekking Centre. It was lovely for her to spend time with the horses and other children. As a family we really appreciate what Tynedale Hospice does and would encourage other families with bereaved children to use the amazing service they provide."

A HUGE thank you to Lisa and all the team at Sinderhope for supporting our team and for giving these children this opportunity. You all went over and above (especially the rosettes!), thank you. 🙏♥️🐎

Thank you to the wonderful team at Wylam Co-op!

We’re so grateful to have been chosen as their Wishing Well charity for September!

Each month, the store chooses a different charity to support, giving customers the opportunity to make a small donation. 🙏♥️

Funds raised help us provide support to local families when they need us most.♥️

So, if you’re popping into Wylam Co-op this month, keep an eye out for the special Wishing Well next to the tills. You can find out more about the work the Hospice does and how you can support us.

Thank you to Wylam Co-op and all their kind customers for helping to make a difference.
We truly value your support.

Welcome back, Matthew!😀

We are delighted to welcome Matthew Crowe back to Tynedale Hospice at Home as our new Senior Fundraising Manager.

Matthew's role will focus on developing new partnerships and strengthening connections across our community, while helping to grow sustainable income to support our vital care services for the future.

Matthew said: “It is fantastic to be back at the Hospice and reconnect with colleagues, supporters and the wider community. I am looking forward to building on the great work already taking place and getting to know even more of the people who make the Hospice what it is.”

Welcome back, Matthew.👋

We are excited to see the impact you will make.💙

Supporting people at home, when they need it most. ♥️

Our specialist palliative Nursing Team provides 24-hour care, 365 days a year, supporting individuals and their families with compassionate end-of-life care in the comfort and familiarity of their own home.

The difference this care makes is reflected in the words of one recent family member:

“You provided a fabulous service and care arrangements for my partner during his last few weeks. Great support and excellent nursing care.”

We receive only a small proportion of the funding needed to provide this vital service from the NHS.
We need to continue to fundraise to ensure we can continue delivering our care services to local families who need us.

We are incredibly grateful to our local community for supporting us through fundraising, and donations.
We are also thankful to organisations such as The Hospital Saturday Fund for their generous donation to help us continue this essential work.🙏

Support helps us be there for people and their loved ones at one of the most difficult times in their lives.♥️
