Haven't posted for a bit as we've been busy prepping our fleet of ebikes and ensuring our Ride Leaders are fully trained and ready for the season. But now... we're... back! April has been glorious. 3 group rides every week.

This week, Tom from Spokes Cycling, Sheffield delivered a 2 day Advanced Maintenance course for 5 of our Ride Leaders from Cycling Minds at The Hextol Foundation in Hexham.
What a great teacher! Tom's knowledge and expertise was first class and his friendly, calm, patient, supportive teaching style really shone through. Two 9 to 5 training days flew by and our Ride Leader's knowledge and confidence has increased massively. Thank you Tom.

Happy New Year from all the Leaders and Cyclists at Cycling Minds at The Hextol Foundation.
We are thrilled to have been nominated by one of our Cyclists for a community donation from our local Waitrose. Please do visit Waitrose and pop a token in their collecting boxes. All 3 causes on the boxes get a financial donation from Waitrose regardless of how many tokens but the bigger donation goes to the biggest collection. All our rides are lead by volunteers and all our rides are free for our Participants. Donations will help us to continue the great work Cycling Minds does in benefitting people's mental health by getting out and about with lovely people in our beautiful location.

And just like that, it was the final week of rides of 2025 for Cycling Minds at The Hextol Foundation.
Amazing that we rode right up to the middle of November. I'll be posting some end of ride season updates soon, including some fabulous comments from our Cyclists and our Ride Leaders.
Thank you so much to all our Ride Leaders for your time, your expertise and your care, ensuring each ride has gone ahead and been so rewarding. Thank you to The Hextol Foundation for making us part of your family. But most of all, thank you to every participant (now referred to as our Cyclists) for your commitment, tenacity, great humour and wonderful company for making the whole charity worthwhile.

What a lovely ride. Weather forecast wasn't great so we decided to stay close to our home The Hextol Foundation. Today the emphasis was on chatting, sightseeing, enjoying the natural beauty on our doorstep and of course our obligatory cafe stop. Today at the Hextol Tans Coffee Shop and Vegetarian Cafe.

Fantastic news - our Cycling Minds The Hextol Foundation team has been shortlisted as Outstanding Organisation of the Year in the Head Outside Awards!!
The Awards celebrate individuals and organisations who use the outdoors to improve people’s mental health with the Outstanding Organisation category recognising groups who are leaders in wellbeing practice.
Being shortlisted is testament to the hard work and dedication of our incredible team of volunteer ride leaders - thank you all.
The awards will be presented at Kendal Mountain Festival in November. Fingers crossed .....

We have spaces for new participants. As long as you can ride a bike safely... Our Ride Leaders provide you with an ebike. We lend you a helmet if you don't have one. The Leaders take you out for a weekly ride with cafe stop. Dont worry about fitness as the ebike motor gives huge assistance. We lead you through every junction and endeavour to ensure every participant has a great time. Every ride is free as we are a charity branch of the Hextol Foundation The Hextol Foundation.
