🎉 What a Night! Hatfield Rotary Club Charity Quiz Night Raises £780 for Charity! 🎉

What happens when you combine a room full of community-minded people, a brilliant quiz host, some BAFTA-worthy acting, healthy competition, plenty of laughter, and a shared desire to make a difference? An unforgettable evening - and £780 raised for local and global charities!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Hatfield Bowls Club for our recent Charity Quiz Night. The atmosphere throughout the evening was fantastic, with a wonderful mix of fun, friendship, community spirit, and just the right amount of competitive determination.

Expertly hosted by the ever-enthusiastic Phil Sergeant, whose passion for quizzes, laughter, and bringing people together shone throughout the evening, teams were put through their paces with a wide range of questions, challenges, and surprises.

As with any great quiz night, there were plenty of lively discussions and friendly debates. One particularly memorable moment involved the question of whether the M11 runs through Hertfordshire or not - a topic that generated passionate arguments, much laughter, and several self-appointed geography experts around the room!

One of the highlights of the evening was our movie challenge, where participants were treated to some truly BAFTA-worthy acting performances and tasked with identifying the films being recreated. The talent, commitment, and entertainment value on display had everyone laughing and cheering along.

A special congratulations goes to our quiz champions of the evening - a remarkable team of just FOUR people who somehow managed to defeat teams of up to EIGHT competitors! Whether it was encyclopaedic knowledge, outstanding teamwork, tactical brilliance, or a secret quiz-night training regime, we'll never know. What we do know is that their victory was thoroughly deserved and achieved against impressive odds!

Events like these remind us of the importance of bringing people together. In a world where many people feel increasingly isolated and where opportunities, activities, and resources for young people can often be limited, community events matter. They create friendships, strengthen connections, encourage belonging, and remind us that we are stronger when we work together.

At Hatfield Rotary Club, we are committed to supporting projects that bring hope, opportunity, and positive change both locally and globally. We want to champion kindness, service, community engagement, and opportunity - not simply react to the challenges of today's world, but actively help build a better future for generations to come.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful sponsors and supporters whose generosity helped make the evening such a success.

Special thanks go to Terranova Italian Restaurant at Stanborough Park for generously donating a prize voucher, as well as The Club at Mill Green, Hatfield Bowls Club, and everyone who contributed raffle prizes, donations, and support. We are incredibly grateful to the many members of our local community whose generosity helped us raise such a fantastic amount.

Community events thrive when local people, businesses, and organisations come together with a shared purpose. Please support the businesses and organisations that support our community - their generosity helps make evenings like this possible and strengthens the community spirit that benefits us all.
The good news? This won't be our last quiz night!

We have more quizzes, fundraisers, and community events planned, so keep an eye on our page for future announcements. If you enjoyed this event, tell your friends. If you missed it, make sure you join us next time!

This time last week we joined members and guests from Brookmans Park Rotary Club, Potters Bar Rotary Club and WGC Rotary Club to hear an inspiring presentation from two clinicians at Lister Hospital about the Children’s Big Build campaign.
The project is raising vital funds for the new Lister Children’s Centre, helping to create improved facilities and care for children and families across our community.

We were blown away by the huge amount of generously donated toys for Child in Mind, a Rotary charity supporting every child spending Christmas in Refuge across the UK.

It took us the whole day to unpack the toys, build fresh boxes, pack individual parcels, seal them up and load everything onto pallets. A proper team workout.

And we’re not done yet… round three continues on 6th December!

Thank you to everyone who donated, helped, lifted, taped, sorted and laughed their way through the day. Community magic at its best. ❤️
