Domestic abuse can affect someone’s confidence, sleep and mental wellbeing — and men’s experiences can go unseen or unheard.
At First People, supporting men affected by domestic abuse is part of our work. We’re sharing this message from The Empower Project to help raise awareness and make support easier to find.
If this feels familiar to you or someone you care about, visit empowerproject.co.uk to find out more.
You don’t have to face it alone.
💜 October is recognised as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the US and marked by organisations internationally.
While the UK doesn’t have an officially recognised awareness month, we’re joining the conversation to raise awareness, challenge stigma and highlight support.
At The Empower Project, we’re shining a light on how domestic abuse can affect men’s mental wellbeing — including the impact that others may never see.
You might look fine to everyone else, while feeling constantly on edge at home.
Domestic abuse can affect your confidence, your sleep and your mental wellbeing. Repeated threats, humiliation, isolation or controlling behaviour can leave you questioning yourself and feeling afraid.
You don’t need a visible injury to deserve support. And you don’t need to have everything worked out before asking for help.
Contact The Empower Project to talk about what you’re experiencing and explore your options.
