🌊 OMAC Fishing Club –
Match Report 24 October — 17:30 to 23:30
Low Water: 21:19 (Hartlepool)

Last night, 12 hardy OMAC members turned out for our final match of October — and they certainly earned their stripes. With the storm in full swing, the lads still felt optimistic. A lively sea running, strong westerly winds hammering over their backs for most of the match, and rain that definitely wasn’t the lottery win they hoped for.Thankfully, after the first hour, the gods eased off the downpour, leaving the lads to battle only the wind and the swell.Despite the rough conditions, 7 of the 11 anglers returned to the scales with some cracking fresh-run fish.
There was plenty of talk about fish showing, but the swell made it tough to keep them on — a few spoils claimed by the sea before they could be landed.

🎣 Top Rods
Craig Bage took Best Bag, landing 4 cod, including one just under 5lb — a quality haul in the conditions.
Ron Smith claimed Heaviest Fish, beating Craig by 2 grams. Fine margins, but that’s match fishing. Top dangling from both lads.👏

Updated Announcement

Darrell Ashcroft Open

Due to multiple open competitions taking place on the same day, we’ve decided to amend the date and fishing times to give the very first Darrell Ashcroft Open the best possible chance of being a success.

New Date: 22nd November 2026
🎣 Fishing Times: 11am – 4pm
📝 Registration: 9am – 10am

All updated details, including the new date and times, are shown clearly on the flyer below.Please share this announcement — it would be very much appreciated and will help us make this event as strong as possible.

On Saturday 3rd of October, the club held our 17th league match of the season. Match times were 18:00 to 00:00. Low water was at 21:22 and it was a 4.3m tide. Sea condition were fairly calm with very little wind. There was a very slight ground swell left off some recent weather and a little bit of colour in the water . It was fairly mild but the temp did drop once darkness fell.

10 members turned up to fish the match with 7 of them returning to the scales. Here are the results:-

1st Rob Wallace 3183g 12 whiting, 1 cod

2nd Chris Smith 2726g 2 cod

3rd Ron Smith 2635g 12 whiting

4th Lee Davies 2429g 11 whiting

5th Matty Robson 2180g 3 cod, 2 whiting

6th Regan Wallace ( jr member ) 2081g 9 whiting

7th Craig Bage 757g 1 cod

Heaviest fish was taken by Chris Smith with a cod of 1990g

Sorry to bombard you all with match reports today, its just i fell behind with one and if i didn't post them today I'd probably forget again.

On Saturday 26th of September, the club held our 16th league match of the season. Match times were 18:30 to 00:30. Low water was at 22:32 and it was a 0.9m tide. Sea condition were glass flat with next to no wind. There was a very light breeze and it was a mild night.

13 members turned up to fish the match with 6 of them returning to the scales. And here's how the night panned out:-

1st Mark Thompson 2879g 6 whiting, 2 cod

2nd Craig Bage 2438g 1 cod

3rd Ron Smith 2262g 12 whiting

4th Rob Wallace 2212g 10 whiting

5th Matty Robson 1826g 2 cod

On Saturday 19th of September, the club held it's 15th league match of the season. Match times were 18:30 to 00:30. High water was at 22:09 and it was a 4m tide. Sea conditions were fairly flat with next to no swell. There was a fresh south westerly wind but nothing too uncomfortable as the temperature was quite mild even though most of the match was fished in the dark.

12 members turned up to fish with 9 of them returning to the scales. Here is how the night panned out:-

Last night, Saturday the 6th of June, the club held its 9th league match of the the year. The match was 17:00 to 23:00 . High water was 20:42 and it was a 4.3m tide.

Conditions weren't too bad , a fresh South east wind was blowing at the start of the match but quickly dropped away to next to nothing. The sea was a bit snotty to start with but lost its aggression as the night progressed .

8 members fished on the night, with 4 weighing in. Here are the results:-

1st Chris Smith 3944g 7 flounders , 1 bass

2nd Ron Smith 1144g 3 flounders

3rd Jonathan Gibbon-Hayes 979g 3 flounders

4th Mark Thompson 685g 3 flounders

Heaviest fish went to Chris Smith with a bass of 933g
