"Hello. Asking for a bit of help. My daughter has lost her beloved bunny rabbit somewhere between hookstone avenue and the Oatlands Junior School playground this afternoon around school pick up time. If anyone has found him or sees his in their travels please could they let me know? She has sobbed herself to sleep tonight"

Are you affected by growing up in an alcoholic or dysfunctional family?

New ACA Meeting in Harrogate.

ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families) is a 12-step fellowship for adults who grew up in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes. It’s a safe, supportive space to share experiences, learn, and heal.

Harrogate Meeting Details:

When: Thursdays, 7:00 – 8:00 pm (open at 6.45)

Where: Community House, East Parade, Harrogate (Entrance via The Annexe at the side of the building)

Everyone affected by growing up in an alcoholic or dysfunctional family is welcome. Confidential, supportive, and non-judgmental.

Come and try FiiT Like a Girl with a FREE taster session and see what our supportive girls-only fitness classes are all about.

These sessions are designed to help girls feel strong, confident and comfortable in their bodies while having fun moving in a friendly, non-judgemental space.

💜 What to expect:
• Fun, energetic workouts
• Strength-based exercises to build strong bodies
• Games and movement to build confidence
• A welcoming environment where girls support each other
• Suitable for all abilities – no experience needed

Class Times
👟 Primary Girls (Ages 7–10)
4:00 – 4:50pm

👟 Teen Girls (Ages 11–16)
5:00 – 5:50pm (full )

Oatlands Community Centre, Harrogate

These classes are part of a project delivered in partnership with Harrogate Town AFC Community Foundation, helping create more opportunities for girls to access positive, empowering fitness.

⚠️ Places are limited to keep classes small and supportive, so booking is essential.

It is with great sadness that we share the news that John Kirkham has suddenly passed away.

John was a much loved member of our Oatlands community and will be deeply missed by many. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.

John’s funeral will take place on Friday 13th February. The family will attend the crematorium first at 11am, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving for his life at 12.30pm at St Mark’s Church.

After the service, everyone is warmly invited to join the family for tea at Oatlands Club. The service will be live screened at the club and will also be available for anyone who is unable to travel.

'Harrogate District Grief and Beyond' recognises that this time of year can feel very different for each of us. For some it brings hope; for others, grief and tender memories.

If you’re carrying a loss, there’s no pressure to feel “positive” or to share more than you want. We’re here for each other, and our informal Monday night meetings can offer comfort, understanding, and support when grief feels especially lonely.

Thinking of anyone for whom this season feels heavy.

To those who are quietly watching Harrogate District Grief and Beyond, but have yet to come along on a Monday night, we are really finding our feet now having just had week 9. How its flown!

Why not use our Christmas get together as opportunity to dip your toe in the water and call in.
MONDAY 22ND DECEMBER @6.30pm. Oatlands Community Centre.

You will be greeted warmly and it will be an evening of support and festivities with people who don't want to be partying, but do want to raise a glass and celebrate their loved one's memory at this time of year.

The hardest bit is walking through the door, but we all felt the same and you can contact me first. Please do take that first step.

I’ve seen a few posts about how expensive Santa visits are this year!

I wanted to share a free community event with Oatlands Community which includes a trail around Oatlands with window displays and a story to follow.

Once you get back to Oatlands Community Centre you can visit the big man himself for free which includes a free gift for every child.
