Content note: baby loss
After her son, Harrison, died at eight weeks old, when Paige found out she was expecting her son, Freddie, she wasn’t filled with joy.
“When Freddie was born, I felt like I was walking into a nightmare. I was terrified something would happen to him, like it did to Harrison.”
Thankfully, Paige’s local authority and NHS Trust had opted to offer The Lullaby Trust’s Care of Next Infant (CONI) programme, designed for families like Paige’s.
“The Lullaby Trust’s CONI programme was the biggest support for me. The breathing monitor they gave me was my lifeline... my miracle machine. It gave me the strength to close my eyes and rest. Without it, I don’t think I would’ve been able to be the mum I was. I would’ve spent the night staring at him in the Moses basket to check he is ok.
Paige doesn't know how she would’ve coped without CONI. But sadly, bereaved families have to face this alone if CONI has not been taken up in their area.
Every bereaved family deserves the peace of mind that CONI gives. Check if CONI is available in your county today 🔗 https://bit.ly/4oiXVxd. If it isn’t, you can email your MP in under a minute to help change that.
Thank you for helping to keep every baby safe, and every family supported. Thank you to Paige for so bravely sharing your story.
