The intrepid members of Rainbow WI ventured further afield for their June meeting - we visited Envirosort at Norton. All of the household recycling from Herefordshire and Worcestershire ends up at Envirosort and is sorted, bailed and sent on to be made into new products. We spent time in the classroom with Jenny who made learning about the whole recycling process fun and entertaining and we were then able to spend some time watching the recycling being sorted. All in all a ‘rubbish’ outing!

Jenny is able to accommodate groups of up to 20 for these visits (Mon- Fri daytime only). The visit lasts 2 hours and is free for WIs. Jenny can be contacted on enquiries@ severnwaste.co.uk

🌿Tomorrow is the start of Great Big Green Week, the UK’s only mass moment for nature and climate, and it is happening on your doorstep. 🌿

Running from 6 to 14 June, with two million people expected to take part, it is a chance to connect with others in your area, take practical action and be part of a national story about what communities can do when they come together for good. Together for good, WIs are working for a fair green future, shaped by local voices, rooted in community, and mindful of the different impacts people face.

Find an event near you at greatbiggreenweek.com

If your WI is planning an event as part of GBGW, don’t forget to tell us all about it and send pictures to [email protected]

Not every workout needs a gym. This one just needs a chair 🪑

Rima’s live chair workout is now underway, and you can still join us for the remaining Monday morning sessions this June.

It’s a gentle and accessible way to move from home - ideal if you're managing limited mobility, want to keep moving while working from home, or just prefer exercise without the travel, changing rooms or pressure to keep up.

Because it’s live, you’ll be part of the class as it happens, with Rima guiding each session in real time.

Join us this Monday at 10am. Head to VIA to book your spot - FREE for WI members 🤩

NFWI-Wales has created surveys to gather a picture of members’ and non-members' knowledge and understanding of violence against women and their skills and confidence in being active bystanders.

The survey responses will help inform the ongoing work of NFWI-Wales in campaigning to end violence against women.

The surveys can be accessed here:

June is the Month of Community 💚

It’s a chance to celebrate the people that make our communities so special.

All across the UK, people are coming together to say thank you, meet neighbours, support good causes, welcome others in, reduce loneliness, celebrate volunteers, support carers, take action for nature and share food and friendship.

There are events and initiatives happening throughout June, with lots of different ways for you to get stuck in! Whether you join something big, do something small, or simply bring a few people together where you live, you’ll help build stronger, kinder and more connected communities.
