🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Hartlebury WI 🎀

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we'd like to take a moment to remind all our members, friends, and neighbours how important it is to check your breasts regularly.

Get to know what's normal for you, so you can spot any changes early. Look out for lumps, thickening, changes in size or shape, skin puckering or dimpling, changes to the ni**le, or any unusual pain.

If you notice anything different, please don't wait: book an appointment with your GP and please don't forget to attend your mammograms.

There's a bra bank in the Parish Hall where you can donate bras you no longer need. It's a simple way to clear out a drawer and support the wonderful Worcestershire Breast Haven Unit at the same time.💕

Thank you to Pam Ford for the Hartlebury WI article in the parish magazine. I was sad to miss the missing but it sounds like you all had a wonderful evening and I’m sure it inspired many. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 14th October, it is the AGM but also an opportunity to talk and learn something new about other members. So hope to see most of you at the hall next week.

What a super result from the Hartlebury WI Craft Group who got together this week to try out leaf printing.

Using acrylic paint, and carefully collected leaves and fronds, the results were absolutely stunning. It's a lovely reminder that you don't need fancy equipment, or expensive materials to make something beautiful. Just a bit of paint, a few leaves and spot of imagination - a bit of friendly WI company helps too of course!

A fun (and wonderfully messy) afternoon was had by all. If you fancy trying something new with us, the Hartlebury WI welcomes visitors and new members too - we meet at 7:30pm on the second Wednesday of every month, at the Hartlebury Parish Hall.

Join us for our next Hartlebury WI meeting on Wednesday 9th September at 7:30pm in the Parish Hall, where we will be treated to an Indian Cookery Demonstration by Sukhi Pantal. It promises to be a delicious evening.

We meet at Hartlebury Parish Hall on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm, and visitors and new members are always welcome. If you're thinking of joining, you're welcome to come along to three meetings to try it out first, no obligation at all.

The Women's Institute is the largest women's organisation in the UK, offering members the chance to learn new skills, build friendships and take part in a wide range of activities in their local community. We also campaign nationally on issues that matter to women, from health and wellbeing to the environment, so being part of the WI means being part of something bigger too.

A huge thank you to our lovely WI member Ann Evans for her super write-up in the Hartlebury Parish Magazine.

We enjoyed a fascinating evening with Shakespearean actress and expert Jenny Rigby, learning all about Shakespeare's women.

Hello all members of Hartlebury WI

I just want to say a few words to you all following the Afternoon Tea yesterday . I joined the WI 10 years ago after I moved here to care for my mum, with no friends only family that also lived in the village. My aunt Helen was a member and she said I needed time for me so I joined. It was the best advice she could have given. Being part of WI and WI Sub groups has sometimes taken over my life , I would not have it any other way, you only get what you put in. Yesterday was just an opportunity to thank you all for your support, friendship and love. I offered to do this 12 months ago and I really enjoyed doing it , my poor suffering husband even got roped in along with Joy and Sue’s husbands but he knows me well and that’s part of being a husband of a WI member . It would never of happened without the support and encouragement from our committee, it was a joint effort and they all worked super hard to make it happen too. So I often say we have one of the best WIs if not the best but actually we have the best members , you are all wonderful, supportive lovely people and I know this won’t change . I want to thank you all so much for the loan of milk jugs, sugar bowls , plates and teapots , we could not have done it without you kindly letting us borrow them. I will not be at the next meeting on Wednesday 9th September so I hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer ###

What a wonderful Wednesday! Yesterday we all came together for a delicious afternoon tea at Hartlebury Parish Hall.
A huge thank you to Hartlebury WI master baker Louise Thomas who baked up an absolute storm. And thank you too, to all the Hartlebury WI assistant bakers, sandwich artists as well as the set-up & tidy-up crew!
Despite the heat outdoors, the hall was lovely and cool. We all had a fantastic afternoon with a super group of women celebrating community, connection and cake!

We had a very interesting evening with guest speaker (and hedgehog enthusiast) Terry Green. 🦔❤️

We learned all about these delightful little garden visitors: how to help them when they are struggling, and the best way to support them in our gardens & surroundings throughout the year.

It was a lovely evening with great company and dash of midsummer sunshine too. 🌞

Thank you to all of the wonderful Hartlebury WI members, and visitors, who could join us this evening.

We hope to see you all again for our next meeting on Wednesday 8th July. 🎭
