What an absolutely unforgettable time in Gdańsk! 🇵🇱✨

We are still buzzing from an incredible tour filled with music, sunshine, and non-stop laughter. Getting to sing alongside so many talented TPSC members was a massive highlight, and performing with the Rusty Orchestra was brilliant! 🎶🎻

The weather has been amazing, the sights were stunning, and most importantly, we made memories with lifelong friends that we will cherish forever. ☀️❤️

A massive, heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to:
All those at TPO for organising and supporting us during the tour

Our amazing choir leader, Chris, for his endless energy & guidance, for leading us with so much passion and for organising such a brilliant tour. We couldn't have done it without you!

Rain stopped play? Not for us! When bad weather forced a last-minute change to our free live performance in Sutton Coldfield, our amazing singers, volunteers and partners pulled together to save the day and keep the music going for local families.

From soggy forecasts to a heartwarming community singalong, this behind-the-scenes story shows what The People’s Show Choir spirit is all about. ✨

Curious how it all unfolded? Grab a cuppa, read the full article via the link in the comments, and tell us your favourite part! 👇

Our spotlight of the week is...Shelagh Bull.

What voice part do you sing? And how long have you been in the Choir?

Soprano
January 2022

What made you join?

A friend knew I was looking for a choir to sing with and recommended me - the rest is history

What’s your favourite piece we’ve ever performed?

We are one.
The original version from January 2022.

If you could choose one song for the choir to sing, what would it be?

Never enough.
The Greatest Showman

What is the song you’ll never get tired of?

May it be.
Enya and Roma Ryan

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?

Imagine. John Lennon

If you could duet with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be?

Amigos para siempre with José Carreras

What’s your favourite thing about our Choir?

The overall feeling of belonging when you walk into the room, and everyone has a welcoming smile on their face whether you are a new singer or a regular.

Best memory from rehearsals or performances?

Helping a young lady to be less anxious when we were performing at Symphony Hall. It was her first time singing in front of an audience. I stayed by her for the concert and she enjoyed the whole experience. Such a small gesture from but it meant a lot to her.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining?

I would encourage them to come and sample the joy and uplifting feeling that can be experienced by singing with a community choir.

What were your tour highlights?

So many highlights -
The helpfulness of the choir leaders, the technical crew and behind the scene helpers.
The friendliness from other singers in our many various choirs and getting to know them.
The sightseeing and visits that are arranged.
The free time when we are eating together or socialising after our performances.
However the main highlights have to be singing at our performances and getting the audience to take part when we are singing the songs they know so well themselves.

PJ’s Night! Another brilliantly bonkers evening as per. Thank you to everyone that donned their jammies 💤🎵

This week's spotlight of the week is... Carol Walker.

What voice part do you sing? And how long have you been in the Choir?
I sing Soprano, and have been in the choir for around 5 years.

What made you join?
I was in another choir but sadly our choir leader moved area and we thought we would give the show choir a go.

What’s your favourite piece we’ve ever performed?
My favourite piece of music is
like a prayer.

If you could choose one song for the choir to sing, what would it be?
I would choose to sing
Mascarade from Phantom of the opera.

What is the song you’ll never get tired of?
I never get tired of Fairy tale of New York

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
If my life had a theme song it would be My Way.

If you could duet with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be?
I would love to do a duet with Gary Barlow.

What’s your favourite thing about our Choir?
My favourite thing about the choir is the friendship we have, the laughs and singing with one another.

Best memory from rehearsals or performances?
My favourite memory is our trip to Poland. I loved the company , singing in the square, and seeing the Polish audience loving us singing to them. I remember a little girl dancing as we sang, her little face as she watched us was priceless.

Scotland again was another favourite singing in the cathedral in Inverness a wonderful experience

What would you say to someone thinking about joining?
I would say, don’t hesitate, you don’t have to audition, or read music, there are always people to help you and last of all enjoy the friendship you will not regret it.

What were your tour highlights?
My tour highlights are so many to mention,
but my favourite memory is when we were in Inverness. Definitely what Ula organised for us from the choirs from England to join the Black Isle folk, what a lovely evening we had, we were made very welcome. We sang and we laughed, we danced till we couldn't dance any more. It finished our tour on a high.
