Since opening our doors in1990 we have dedicated ourselves to rehabilitating and rehoming a variety of animals!

We are a rehoming centre, and do not have any inspectors at our site. For any reports of neglect or cruelty, please call 0300 1234 999 RSPCA Great Ayton Animal Centre Registered Charity Number 219099.

Sudden flashes and loud explosions can be terrifying for our four-legged family members, but a few simple steps made ahead of time can make a massive difference to their stress levels.

🎃🐾 Trick or Treat 🐾👻

Our animals weren’t about to miss out on the Halloween fun this year! The team treated our dogs to a canine-safe “trick or treat” walk around the centre, and safe to say, they were 100% here for the treats (no tricks required when you can give puppy-dog eyes like that). 🦴✨

Throughout October, we’ve been capturing spooky snaps and videos of all the animals across the site joining in the seasonal fun—including a few lucky pups and cats who have already headed off to their new homes since!🧡🎃

🎃👻 Happy Halloween! 🐾🧡

Some of you may remember Rolo, who we had up for adoption back in April. Sadly, he had no interest when he was first advertised, but look at him now! 🥰🐶

Rolo has found himself an amazing home and now lives with his sister Nala, who was also adopted from RSPCA Great Ayton a few years ago. We’re so pleased to see them both doing so well! It’s always extra special when previous adopters come back to us with updates and photos of their much-loved pets.

Rolo and Nala are both thoroughly spoiled, very much loved, and enjoy lots of amazing family holidays together!

We absolutely love seeing updates from our former residents and hearing all about the wonderful lives they’re living. It makes everything we do so worthwhile!

Could your cat’s old scratcher be our kitties’ new favorite hangout? 🐾

Our rescue cats are in need of some tall cat scratching posts to keep their claws healthy, stretch out their muscles, and climb to their hearts' content.💙

If you have a gently used, sturdy, tall scratching post (like the one in the picture below) taking up space that your furry friend has outgrown or ignored, we would love to take it off your hands!

Every donation helps keep the cats in our care active, happy, and enriched while they wait for their forever homes.🏠

🎃👻 Happy Halloween Eve! 🐾🧡
We’d like to say a HUUUUUGE thank you to Christine for their incredibly generous donation of Halloween dog toys!

After hearing that one of our staff members fosters for the centre, they wanted to do something lovely for the dogs still in our kennels and donated some spooky toys to help make their Halloween extra special! How thoughtful is that?! ❤️

Dougie and Willow have had lots of fun playing with their new toys this week! 🎃🦴 Just look at them enjoying themselves!

A little update on Dougie, too: he’s currently recovering medically, so we’ve temporarily paused adoptions for him while he gets the time and care he needs. ❤️‍🩹 If you’ve already applied to adopt Dougie, please bear with us — we’ll be in touch by the middle of next week, once he’s had a little more time to recover.

How this gorgeous girl is still with us, we honestly don't know. Mini is a chirpy, affectionate sweetheart who leaps up to greet you the moment you walk into the room. When she isn't enjoying a leisurely stroll or having a playful chat, you'll find her curled up for a cozy cat nap. Her ultimate dream? To spend her days snuggled by a warm fireside, soaking up all the love and attention she deserves.

🐾 Day Foster Report Card: Willow got straight A’s! 🐾

Our sweet girl Willow took a little break from kennels this week to test drive couch-potato life, and spoiler alert: she’s a total natural.

Here’s a quick recap of Willow’s perfect day out:
🚗 Car ride? A breeze. She hopped right in and was the best little copilot.
🧸 Enrichment & play? She had a blast with he toys and keeping her mind occupied.
🛋️ Cosy time? Her favorite spot was curled up happily working on a chew.

Willow showed us just how gently and quickly she settles into a home routine. When she’s not keeping busy with fun toys, she’s more than happy to snooze beside you and share the cozy spots.
