Have you recently received a letter advising you to move from Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) to Universal Credit?
And has communication support or access to information been a barrier?

At Citizens Advice Bureaus, we know Deaf Awareness Week is about making services more accessible, inclusive and easier to use for everyone. πŸ’™

That’s why the Help to Claim service from Citizens Advice Scotland offers a Video Relay Service (VRS), allowing you to communicate with an adviser using British Sign Language (BSL).

How the service can support you:
βœ… Check if you’re eligible for payments
βœ… Support you through your Universal Credit claim
βœ… Help you prepare for your first Job Centre appointment
βœ… Check your first payment is correct

Find out more about the BSL service by the link

πŸ—žοΈ Are banking hubs the answer to bank branch closures?

With more local bank branches closing across Scotland, many people – especially in rural and island communities – are being left without easy access to essential banking services. A new article from explores whether shared banking hubs could help fill this gap.

Bank branch closures don’t just mean inconvenience – they can increase financial exclusion, particularly for older people, those without reliable internet access, and small businesses that rely on cash services. Banking hubs aim to provide face-to-face support, cash access, and basic banking services under one roof, shared by multiple banks.

But are they enough? And do they truly meet the needs of local communities?
