What a tremendous evening we had on Saturday night as we celebrated 15 years of GCGC, it was a wonderful evening to experience! We welcomed many old members and many newer supporters to the Godalming Minster and we just loved singing our hearts out for you all.
We were very honoured to welcome back one of our previous Choir Directors, Hermione Thomas as well as one of our early accompanists, Femi, it was sheer joy to see you both and we were tickled pink that you were able to be with us on the night.
We remembered others who have also helped us in our journey as a choir, to Kathy McLeish who led us and Marsha Morrison who so graciously stepped in during one of the many maternity leaves... to both we extend our gratitude for your service to us.
We also recognised the many who have stepped in on occasion when needed and who were instrumental in keeping the Choir on the up and up!
Our ever grateful thanks to Emma Sue Prince who started this Choir 15 years ago and who could not be with us on the evening, we extend our thanks to you for your belief in such an endeavour and we are delighted we are still here and still growing. We hope to see you before too long.
Our so energetic and lively Choir Director, Russell Blackman, proved his worth by producing an evening of great achievement, great sound and yet another of those where we wondered where we were going when given new material to learn and then performing at our very best! Our special thanks also to the so accomplished Vaughan Larmond who keeps producing such a great sound and helped by John Jackson and Harry Thomas (Hermione’s son) the Band did a superb job yet again... we love you all and hope you will come back again soon.
The addition of so many old members for the sheer pleasure of singing Hosanna was one of the utterly special moments of the evening, thank you to all who stepped up and joined us, we so enjoyed it!
We wil now take a short break and start again on 13th April, 2026 with our new term and a Taster Evening for anyone who would like to join us and share the joy and fun of singing Gospel music. We will start at 7.30 pm at Godalming Minster, the Octagon Room, so do come along if you have even the smallest of interest in joining a very welcoming group who just love singing Gospel music, it’s a great way to alter a mood or just connect with others and brings so much pleasure to all.
