Hello, I thought I should properly introduce myself.

My name is Rose, and for many years I have created photographic slideshows set to music to celebrate important family milestones — weddings, birthdays, new births, and sometimes to remember and honour those we have lost.

Six months ago, I lost my husband, Michael. When I began searching for a slideshow to include in his service, I found that most available options felt very generic and lacked the real emotion and empathy I was hoping for. I realised that perhaps the best person to create a tribute for Michael was me.

It was an emotional journey, but I felt I was able to do him justice and truly celebrate his life and the wonderful person he was. I was deeply touched when both the celebrant and the funeral director told me it was one of the most meaningful tributes they had seen.

A few months after losing Mike, I began to think about what I might do next. It occurred to me that perhaps I could help other families honour and celebrate the lives of their loved ones in the same way. With the support and encouragement of Jon Rust of Jonathan Rust Family Funeral Directors, I began creating tribute slideshows for other families.

It is truly an honour to be entrusted with these memories. My aim is always to create a tribute that reflects a life well lived and that brings a little comfort and solace to those left behind.

If you would like more information, or if you are interested in commissioning a personal tribute for a loved one, please feel free to get in touch. I would be very happy to talk with you.

Oh & this is me . . . excuse the photo but like most of us I don't like my own photos!

Friday night I swapped my top hat for my bingo hat. Helping raise money for Fordingbridge Sports Club. We donated a booze hamper to help the money roll in. A great evening was had by all and over £500 was raised for the club. Thank to everyone who dug deep to make it a successful night.

Good luck Jordan & Team for your new venture in town.

Saturday evening the 31st January saw the annual Racenight arranged by the Club take place at Forres Sandle Manor School. Nearly 100 'punters' turned up and enjoyed a super evening of racing, betting, and banter - and good food! By the end of the evening the competition between tables to successfully 'buy' a horse in the last race (8 runners) was highly-charged, and great fun!

The evening raised approximately £3000, half of this sum being donated to Julia's House, the hospice for children in Wi******er, and the other half to smaller local charities which we regularly support.

A big 'Thank you' to all those who took part.

If you're sorry you missed it, please let us know, and we will ensure you are contacted in good time for next year's event - probably in Jan/Feb again.

Fordingbridge Rotary Club does good!

The Rotary Club of Fordingbridge have approved their annual accounts to the end of June 2025, and are very pleased to report that they raised just over £16000 in the year, principally from their four regular fundraisers, the Duck Race, the Model Railway Exhibition, the Quiz Night and the Race Night, and have put this sum to good causes, as follows:
It has donated approx. £7500 to local youth causes, most notably to the local schools and scout groups.

It has donated approx. £4800 in total to community groups such as the Luncheon Club, Dementia Pals, Avon Valley Youth & Community, Wessex River Trust, Hyde Band and Salisbury Hospice.
The Club have also allocated approx. £4000 to international projects, namely Disaster Relief Water Survival Boxes (many have been recently sent from its central warehouse to help support the worst hit in Jamaica by Hurricane Melissa), and a charity called Lend with Care, which enables very small business start-ups, principally in Africa, with individual small loans, which are almost always paid back and then lent on to the next one. It has proved very successful and worthy of our support.

Last year we collected 150 Christmas Shoe Boxes from local primary schools, which we packed up and sent off to Ukraine, Romania, Moldova & Montenegro, to children who would otherwise not receive any presents for Christmas. They were all so thankful, as are we.
They wish to thank the townsfolk for their support throughout the year, enabling them to achieve all this!
The Club is not just about fundraising, however, as many will have no doubt seen them providing labour in the town, managing road closures, initiating a ‘clean up’ of the town, and car parking at events such as the Museum’s recent Anniversary event, and Damerham Fair, and stewarding the Junior School’s annual Firework Display.

“If you’d like further information on the above, or, if it has sparked some interest in you joining Rotary here in Fordingbridge, please, in the first instance, go to our website fordingbridge-rotary.uk.org. We do have a lot of fun in achieving the above and also in enjoying purely social events throughout the year. Our motto is ‘Service above Self’ i.e. giving something back to the local community and beyond – all while lasting friendships are made”.
